Agree Aspro. Grealish is happy running round in circles with the ball but not much else. Spurs have to sort out why they can play like today and when beating Man City but still throw away games like Villa last week.

A good result and somewhat unexpected. I'd have taken a draw after the way we've been playing of late Plain
Report DixieDean60 October 26, 2025 6:52 PM GMT
I had a feeling beforehand that today would not be a good one for the Toffees.  We always had a good record against Spurs at Goodison (not as brilliant as against Palace , but still decent) and they never seemed to relish playing there but the new stadium did not seem to hold the same terror for them.

0-3 was a harsh scoreline all the same.  On the stats it was a very equal game but conceding two goals from corners is poor defending indeed and most un Everton-like, Branthwaite is a big miss in such situations and it seems he will be missing for some time yet.  The turning point of course was the VAR intervention for the ultimately disallowed goal which would have made it 1-1 and a totally different game, in other games i have seen similar incidents where the goal has stood, yet more inconsistency ( there seemed to be a possible foul for Spurs second goal but no VAR intervention that time ).

The biggest issue for the Toffees though is still not having a decent goalscorer , Beto is a trier but his finishing is just not good enough. Grealish and Ndiaye set up plenty of chances but there is nobody to take them !

Spurs certainly seem to have more steel about them this season and with strange results around in the EPL every week they could make the top four imo.
Report ----you-have-to-laugh--- October 26, 2025 6:59 PM GMT
Everton goal is flagged by offside, so contact can be minimal
and he's deemed to be interfering with play, so offside.

Foul, needs to be a lot more to overturn on field shout.

Not much in the game, it's hard to come back and in trying
a team sets itself up to be countered.

I thought when Everton scored it might stay 1-1 to end of game.

EPL football died at 6 30 sat night when Brentford Ko for 2nd half, a bloke flicked it up ,did 2 keepy uppey,s and without looking volleyed a ball as high as he could 60 yds down the pitch  towards  the touchline, hoping to win/defend a throw in  as high up the pitch as they could, EMBARRASSING

I'm enjoying the long throw ins. Before defenders used to just boot the ball anywhere into touch, now they have to think
Report lurka October 28, 2025 2:49 AM GMT
The league is full of foreign managers who like control and keeping teams as far away from their box as possible thru possession, pressing and high-lines. They can't control long throws or well organised corners, they don't like chaos or defending in their own box and many are crying about it.

There are some journos (Liverpool fans I think) writing articles criticising it when they wrote articles praising Klopp for his prowess on set pieces in 2018/9. Slot replaced Wirtz with Gomez against Brentford purely because Gomez has a long throw. Set-pieces and high balls into the box used to be the cornerstone of English football and the continentals never liked it.

I saw Brentford goal but how many goals were scored off a long throws at weekend % wise to number of throws ?,
I saw arsenal goal and its getting ridiculous that arsenal, pundits, comms etc would rather class.claim that as a set piece/corner goal rather than a goal from open play which it was

Dummies guide.

Chelsea should beat Sunderland who haven't really faced anyone of their quality thus far but they look well organised,  maybe 2-0 or 3-1
Feels like Newcastle have been due to give someone a hiding in the league but with a mid week game in their legs and with Fulham being a good side, maybe 2-1 or 2-0 as well.
United - Brighton feels like a draw, maybe 1-1.
Harlequins v Liverpool will be a tough battle, fancy a DESMOND.
Arsenal against a tired Palace side who played their strongest team mid week and will play us just 3 days later, 2-0 or 3-0.
If Wolves get nothing from this game, then even with a new contract I'd imagine it's Perieira's last game, it's about time Strand Larsson done something for Wolves though he's been carrying an injury, Burnley will be their usual Scott Bus Parkering selves, feels like a 1-0 or 1-1, I'd probably go with a narrow Wolves win.
fpl Lovechild Semenyo meets Sean Utter Woke Nonsense Dyche in the throws of his honeymoon period, see this as another draw but for some reason feels like goals, another Desmond.
A dejected Villa and their momentum halted v a complete One Man team in City, have to give City this but maybe only 0-2 or 1-3.
Everton v the filth, Richarlison is being carried, he will surely be dropped, either way fancy twinkle toes Grealish to have big effect, 1-0 or 2-1.

Some poor guessing this week.
