Wonder what they make of the state of Bulgarian football? There can't be another nation that has gone downhill as fast at football. A nation that qualified for the World Cup 7 times in 10 editions between 62 and 98. Even post 98 they had decent qualification efforts. Finished 11 points ahead of Georgia in 2010 qualification, including a 6-2 home hammering. It's literally been downhill every year for 30 years
To see the 2025 version 14/1 against at home to Turkey and the same price away to Georgia, you'd have to group the current crop alongside the likes of Luxembourg and Cyprus.

I'd imagine it's a they were ahead of time and then tie caught them up, with other wealthier European nations simply concentrating their efforts more on player development, academies etc, bearing in mind Romania and Bulgaria are really just two poor Easter European countries who's income is best spent elsewhere, that said still surprising in the last 3 decades that no diamonds in the rough have been unearthed a la a Stoichkov or a Hagi, unless you want to put someone like Berbatov into that category.

The only Bulgarian player currently playing at a high level is Gruev at Leeds. Born in Germany. Bulgarian football infrastructure virtually non existent added to a birth rate rapidly declining and ever increasing childhood obesity
