Iheanacho controls it and hammers home.
Lengthy VAR check for handball - given

Have no affiliation to any Scottish football teams, but this is terrible.

Italian guy on VAR, wants his betting activity checked.

Looked like ref gave handball, and var unable to rule it out.

The stills look like handball, but need to see
a different angle at same time.

I thought it came off his head.

Absolutely shocking decision from VAR, and I know goals change matches and Celtic may have went on to win match if goal stood and momentum gathered, but I think  best team won, they were braver on ball and passed it better. Celtic have problems, they have spent a lot of money on players who don't look great value.
Report snowynoon October 3, 2025 3:09 PM BST
VAR say they didn't rule it out ,but couldn't say 100% that the officials claim of "it brushed his arm "was wrong and that apparently was the linesman from 20 yards away, unbelievable stuff .

bad decision but best team won IMO

saw it this morning got to question integrity of var official. Fair enough ref getting it wrong, it happens so quick but htf someone with a few angles ( and slow motion )  on it can class that as handball is quite remarkable.

Even if it glanced his arm, which it 100% didn’t,it came off his foot first,I thought if it comes off the body first then hits arm it’s not handball,

I do think our var applies different to eufa and fifa,it’s all a total mess.
Report ----you-have-to-laugh--- October 3, 2025 5:07 PM BST
Var have to be certain it was not handball.

Looking at those stills that is a difficult ask.

Newcastle had a goal ruled out in carabao Cup semi
at Southampton for Joelinton handball.

It wasn't handball, but they found a still looking
through the goal with ball lined up with arm, so went
with referees call of handball.

Fairly similar, and very harsh here.

The key to these minor touches,if any.

Is,did the ball change trajectory, did it affect the play.

Defender gets the skin of the leather on the boot ,to maybe slightly graze the ball,a players finger nail slightly grazed the leather on the ball, non of these touches affected the direction of the ball, altered the play.
Would never be seen by the naked eye, then can’t even see it with 10 replays.

It hasn’t affected the move in anyway, yet they are being called as fouls, disallowed goals.its crazy,
It’s not clear and obvious.

Same with pixel offsides,it’s not clear and obvious,

Should be ,if it looks about right then allow it.

The premier league are obsessive with it,in Europe a bit more easy going, bar this Celtic goal.

When it’s unclear, should favour the attacker.
Report LoyalHoncho October 3, 2025 11:35 PM BST
For me, in any VAR inspected issue of this nature the benefit of any doubt should always favour the attacker.  If nothing else it benefits, encourages and promotes attacking football.  Which has to be a good thing.
This was quite the most inept and ridiculous VAR decision ever.
