Has Ali Mc Coist got a point when he suggests a man on the post at corners? It used to be common and the number of goals you see that go in near the post is significant. Or is it ?

How many times does having a man on post (and therefore not marking someone in box) cause a goal? Obv its impossible to tell so can only really say after the fact every time it happens!

Stick a man on the post and Oppo can obstruct goalie without being offside

Swings and roundabouts.

Stick a 'Just Stop Oil' looney on the post, problem solved (they won't mind)

You can't be offside from a corner.

Yeah, you are blocking the goalie seeing the header coming, or getting to it.

Man on post allows everybody to stay onside from shot/header
at goal.

I prefere a man on the post but whatever tactic is chosen every player should be doing something.  Worthwhile.  And/or ready to do something.
I know it wasn’t a corner last night but Cucurella, loose, in/on the six yard box because a midfielder had occupied his position in the left back position, just stood and watched the ball going into the middle, past him goalside, doing nothing.  Ball watched and goal resulted. He should have intervened but all he did was watch the ball pass his feet and look to see who would intervene/clear it.  Poor concentration and poor self-coaching.  He should have told himself to deal with it.

Some teams do this as standard. I think Celtic is one, could be mistaken.

teams that do it as standard is just to give a couple of players blowing a casket something to hold on to lean against to stop them falling down LaughLaugh.i used to volunteer Laugh
