Have to wonder what more Iraola has to do to get considered for a big job. Lost most of his defence as well as Ouattara, home ground is teeny weeny, yet he's got them in fourth with 3 wins inc against Spurs and Brighton and their only defeat coming after giving the champions a scare. I wouldn't hesitate.

The United job is and will remain a huge draw, the bigger the mess they are in only increases the attraction not the opposite because the guy who finally manages to crack the code will become some sort of deity.
Alex Ferguson achieved his legendary status by stirring a sleeping giant and then repeatedly winning, the guy who fixes this would have brought United back from the dead and the rewards for someone who is able to do that for Manchester United means risking everything, even career suicide. |

SAF took five years to turn the tanker around. Between him and Sir Matt only Tommy Doc and big Ron got that amount of time. The huge amount of money investment in the game ( and Club ) now means no-one is likely to ever be given that time again. Sad but true imo. Youth wouldn’t seem to have a hope in h##l at ManU now. You have to believe it can be changed but it would take some very special people to achieve it. And not just on the field and bench.

He is going to be hoisted by his own petard, reports out of Portugal were that of a very stubborn character and he seems very much that the more it becomes obvious that there must be a fundamental change to the set up, the more he will dig in.
If he was flexible from the start and was successful that would be one thing, but he has gone so far down the road of the single way of setting things up in the face of public and professional opinion to the contrary he would now feel very much pot committed and he'll also feel that his reputation can only be salvaged if he were able to prove his way works and were he to change now and be successful it would actually only serve to damage him further because it would confirm and underline his failure. |
