I think Betfair need to do better in that respect Des. A lot of the exchange customers expect to be able to bet in running and to trade and sometimes that's not possible.

The state of suspensions are dreadful. I've been in the football markets for many many years and never seen it worse. The old 'suspend monkeys' used to have the piss taken, but now it's far worse if that's possible.
I'm constantly seeing markets remain open after a goal and all the money being hoovered up, thousands of pounds. I'm not seeing 'reversals' much anymore. Years ago we had a BF manager to report incidents to.
It could be the end of the line for me. I just feel it's a shame after all these years to see the state of suspensions which is promoting and profiting hoovering after the goal. Without suspension integrity the whole ethos of in-running Exchange betting dies.

yes Foin, it amazes me that more punters do't kick off about it. My bets are pretty modest and I can take the losses, but it's bloody frustrating when you have a position and want or need to trade off. Only you can't because they've suspended a game and not bothered to unsuspend it. For people who have much bigger bets than me, it must be infuriating.

Yes, created a thread about this last season. There was actually a wrongly settled bet on the Spain-Georgia match during 2024. Mind-boggling. In a Serie A game they didn't immediately resettle bets after VAR and I had -£5K staring at me for an hour.

Lack of contact via phone or email is a disgrace. So you are forced to spend 45 mins on livechat. Every week there must be tens of thousands in non-reversals. If nobody complains the bets stand. I know this because I see it constantly after VAR.

Yes agreed. I saw two matches yesterday alone, suspension for a goal, then all the markets reopened including the over/under 0.5, and all the money then hoovered down to 1.01, same in the first half goals 0.5 market. Then a second goal, suspension, all markets reopen again and the over 1.5 market gets hoovered down to 1.01. Then another match later on exactly the same. Disgraceful, and such activity if it escalates will see the demise of exchange betting, which would be a huge shame. I must admit, I don't bother to report it anymore, it just ends up going round in circles with people who don't understand what you're talking about.

mostly bots on the correct score markets now. Markets that used to have £50K matched by kick off now start at £2K. The backers are thin on the ground, when the layers give up, its curtains.

Outside of the big events, some of those markets have very poor liquidity and spreads as wide as the Bristol Channel. When it takes more than 5 minutes of time value just to cover the spread then it's often not worth risking a decent amount if anything at all.
