Roy Keane and football management were like oil and water.
The opposite of what Roy said or did was probably correct.

Your opinion doesn’t change the fact that none of SAF, Bob Paisley, Brian Clough, Jock Stein, Matt Busby, Bill Shankly - need I go on - would have even considered gladhanding all and sundry, on the pitch, after a match, and they most certainly would not have remonstrated, publicly, with any player, in the manner in which Pep did with Halland last season. And I have stated my position on the practice.  You haven’t.  Care to comment properly?

I have no difficulty with a senior employee of a football club speaking with a junior member under his supervision in their place of work.
My opinion has no weight in the administration of any football club, the same as the opinion of any fan or observer has no impact.
I do not make the rules by which a club is managed, and neither does any other outsider, Roy Keane or anyone else.

Honcho, you are correct about how it used to be... I played back in the 70s and 80s and you were lucky to get a handshake from your manager, even if you had scored a hat trick, it was just expected that you were doing what you were being paid for...
However, now, the players are in the driving seat, just look at how Isak is engineering a move away from Newcastle... The managers are scared to upset their players... It's a reflection of wider society... You can't criticise employees or they go off sick with stress, kids at school are not getting a fail for exams etc etc... Everyone is doing everything great, every time

Martin O'Neil one of Roy's best mates, went on the Park at Ibrox after game put this arm around Neil Lennon and marched him to Celtic fans.
Roy is getting upset about nothing or couldn't think of anything of any value tactically so had to say something to justify his fee.
Martin O'Neil was actually very aloof from his players too normally.

Managers and players are colleagues, and both employees of the football club, they just have different roles in the football process, in many ways the manger depends on the players (colleagues)  on the pitch for job security and future job prospects.

Keane is a comedy figure. Angry at absolutely everything. Still sitting there wondering why calling players lazy useless w*nkers fails to build team moral when he managed.

To be fair i struggle to understand why anyone pays for Sky Sports anymore.

Big Mick McCarthy was good when interviewer asked him " What do you think of Roy's punditry style ?" He replied "Everybody has their own style punditry and Roy has his", and then he gave a big grin, "I'm surprised he does it though but he he thought they were all muppets when he played."

gets annoyed about it. funny to see the contrast on Sunday between him and two totally laid back dudes in Sturridge and Richards. The way football is going he probably won't be on TV for too many more years, not that he needs the money

We will agree to disagree loyal, GL, but I think if you asked Brendan Rodgers " do you class Callum McGregor as a work colleague ?" I think he'd laugh and say "of course and a valued one"

Agree with Honcho ,manager should shake opposition manager hand an go down the tunnel ,can congratulate or otherwise his own players in the changing room .What next ,going into the crowd and shaking all the fans hands ??

Send a letter into club you support snowy, and sure it will get to the manager/head coach and he will take you're views on board and decide what he thinks is most important things he needs to concentrate on to get as much points as possible for you're football club.

Calum McGregor, I am sure is a very nice chap, and a decent footballer but if you are suggesting that their old pals act is responsible for Celtic’s recent success I beg to differ. As always it is the ineptitude of the one  half of the o.f. which is the main reason for the success of the other half.

Loyalhoncho I thought this was finished but I have to answer you but anybody who works in football operations to produce intended outcomes, is a work colleague of the manager/head coach. I would include sports science lads, physiotherapists, the analytic lads are colleagues, but most important colleagues to realise intended outcomes for the boss are the players on pitch, because that is were it all happens.

I forgot to add in assistant manager, head coach and even you're academy director because you need to know if there is something you can spring, they are all colleagues to get the football clubs intended outcomes realised.
