No opposition player allowed within 1 metre of a wall at a free kick,to stop player pushing the wall.goal disallowed today.

Why didn’t they get rid of the stupid look,of player lying down behind the wall.

if a player was on the floor anywhere on the pitch, the ref would not restart the game,so why does he allow a player to be lying don’t behind a wall, then allows play to start,I.e take the free kick.

Should be banned.

If the defending team don’t want to concede a goal because the ball is shot under the wall, easy to solve.

Don’t jump.

Oh,sorry, way they highlighted today, seemed to be talking as new,

Strange it’s took this long for a goal to be highlighted as disallowed..

Been watching a lot of matches since lock down, never heard it mentioned before.

too much interference, anyway. Too many results influenced or decided by blokes in sitting in front of computer screens, imho.

Often wall points out a player encroaching and ref delays.

Quite a few folk seem to have missed it.

Rule came in 2019,

Just watched a clip of 2024-25 free kick goals, all of them virtually had a player within 1 metre and leaning, pushing the wall.

All allowed.

So no idea why today’s disallowed, unless they ve decided to be strict on it.

United stupid..
When didn’t they form a wall next to the keeper,so then arsenal couldn’t have scored from the corner.

See how stupid the rule is.

There was a free kick in man utd arsenal game
as arsenal player impeded the keeper once ref had started 5 sec countdown.

Indirect free kick.

That is another new rule!

There’s been 4 rules for keepers
No back pass
4 second
Then dropped
Now 8 seconds.

Like the whip rule, wait till a goal is scored after 9 second breach,VAR on a stop watch, deciding was it 8 or 9 seconds.

They had to do something about the keeper catching a ball then dropping to the ground with it for no reason.

Will anyone be reviewing all free kicks since this rule was brought in? Would be very interesting to see how many goals have stood that shouldn’t have.

That doesn’t surprise me. Never far away from controversy when rules are adhered to so willy nilly.
