Sadly to some people a flash car is a toy.

I've used that road a few times. Iirc like a lot of Spanish E roads it's a duel carriageway with a crash barrier that is not always next to the road.  They have quite wide drainage paths between the carriageways. Get in one of those at speed and you are in trouble.
Report LoyalHoncho July 3, 2025 12:37 PM BST
As you say Jerry, thankfully no other party was killed or injured.

Over 1,600 people die in road accidents every year in the UK.

That's equivalent to nearly an Airbus A320 crashing each and every month

In the 1920s it was 4,000+ per year died on British roads. Peaked at 7,000+ every year in the late 1960s.

Car safety has improved a lot with airbags and seatbelts but people still make poor drivers

very sad, feel for the kids, wife and other family. Lamborghinis are horrible cars to drive. I drove one once and did not enjoy the experience. Was glad to get out of the thing, tbh. Mind you I'm not a young man.

BBC Sport has been told that Jota had undergone minor surgery so doctors had advised against flying.

As result, he was planning to return to Liverpool for pre-season training, due to begin on Monday, by ferry.

This is understood to involve him travelling by car from Porto to get a ferry from Santander in northern Spain.

Zamora, close to the Portuguese border, is around 190 miles from Porto, and a similar distance from the port.

It is understood Jota had completed the journey in reverse to get to Porto for his wedding.

You seem to know a lot about the crash or are you just a stupid guesser? What speed was he going, the police statements don't seem to indicate any wrongdoing but I'm sure you guessers know best.

TBF guessing is what most betfair punters do.

But in this case we should all await for what the Spanish authorities say.

I know a lot about the crash

Witnesses and forensic reports describe:

Complete vehicle destruction

Ruptured fuel lines or tank ignition

Instant fireball, suggesting severe kinetic impact energy

Such destruction implies a crash speed of at least 140 km/h (87 mph), and more likely 160–200 km/h (100–125 mph), depending on the angle and object struck (barrier, embankment, tree).
Completely destroyed the Armco barrier
