Hi Dragon your advice required please.

My daughter is off to Royal Ascot Ladies day on Thursday 19th.

She has asked Dad for some tips!
Now it has been many years since I last dabbled on the nags.

But I do recall you sometimes put up a horse or two.
So when you have had the chance to have a study, I would appreciate any 'Good Things' you think may be worth a punt.

Any other tipsters on the Footie Forum your input would be much appreciated, so Dad can be in daughters good books, or not as may be the case.

Grok, how many horses have died at royal ascot on the flat in the last decade?

Precise data on horse deaths at Royal Ascot on flat races from 2014 to 2025 is limited, but available sources provide some insight. Animal Aid’s Race Horse Death Watch, referenced in a 2016 article, reported 16 horses died on the flat course at Ascot Racecourse from 2007 to 2016, with 10 occurring during Royal Ascot’s June meetings. Extending this to 2025, PETA UK’s 2020 post on X stated 32 horses died in jumps and flat races at Ascot since 2013, though it doesn’t specify how many were in flat races alone. Specific flat-race fatalities include Star Safari (2017) and Canute (2020) during Royal Ascot.

Estimating based on these sources, approximately 10–20 horses likely died in flat races at Royal Ascot from 2014 to 2025, with the number potentially higher due to underreporting or off-site deaths. The causes of death include fractured bones (e.g., fetlocks, pasterns) and collapses. For a year-by-year breakdown, further data from primary sources like the British Horseracing Authority would be needed, but such records are not fully public.

Thursdays cards on betfair will be added soon

Today's racing might help with spotting draw bias.

Serious Contender in the 3.05 looks, err, a serious contender...

In the 5.00 I liked bedouin prince when it won last time and
will have a little bet, but it's a hot handicap.

My advice would be not to wear a belt as a skirt and put your big nickers on for starters!

Don't get slaughtered! Make sure someone remains sober and responsible. Don't get your photo on the Daily Mail!

Hope she has a great day. The weather is going to be fantastic. I am not a racing fan. I have been to Ascot once. A great day out but the four legged sport is not my thing

MORNING ER

Here are my thoughts on todays races at Ascot.

Race 1 ,  The fav Charles Darwin is the correct fav but very short -lets go for Af the french raider each way and small win bet.

Race 2 Very difficult .The Obrien Horse Propose ,son of Frankel, at 20/1 looks a good ew bet.

Race 3 I like Serenety Prayer . Win bet 3/1.

Race 4 I have backed Trawlerman at 2/1.

Race 5.Tough handicap . Think Teeroomm should go well at 8/1

Race 6. Trinity College is drifting in the betting but i think it has a strong chance. how about Arabian Force ew at 14/1.

Race 7 I have backed Never so Brave 11/2 and Myal ew at 25/1. Tough race.

I hope your duaghter has a great and memorable day.

I see the cherries are away at Liverpool first game of the season!

No probs.

I remember when i took the now Mrs Dragon to york races the first time back in the day. I was offerring all my pearls of wisdom around, form, weight, going , jockey trainer etc,

Mrs D picked names she liked and colours. She got 5 winners i got zero says it all really.

I alo remenber taking to our children to Haydock for the first time. I gave them 1.50 each way to pick a horse in each race. Our eldest duaghter wd have been around 8 at the time got a 33/1 and 16/1 simply picking names she liked.

Happy days.

Thank you to all who gave suggestions.
