Anybody playing for prize money is hardly overpaid as anybody good enough
can win the pot. Liv golfers on salary are likely overpaid. Wimmin tennis players getting same pot as men, overpaid. Footballers earn their corn, again the money is there for anybody. Boxers, hmmm?, yes and no, anybody can get in ring, but Saudis buying exposure sure does bump up the prize pot at top end. |

I think it's great they get paid huge money. I can't think of another industry where talent is rewarded so handsomely. Usually it's only the top guys coining it in to that extent. These guys in the Premier League are the elite and have worked immensely hard at their craft.

I'm not a fan of Boxing, Golf or tennis but I don't think the participants are overpaid because they are playing for a pot available.
Stick to football any player who doesn't live up to the expectations of their contract is overpaid IMO. |

I was going to say cricket bowlers are the most overpaid but most are on a fixed salary.

In sport there is no hiding place. There's no faking it. No subjectivity, or privilege. The best are the best.
One exception for me is boxing. 5 or 6 world titles is ofc nonsense, but sums up the sport. Top boxers fight very rarely and when they do, for the most part they pick and choose their opponent. You can often fake it as the world's best or one of the best by manipulating your choice of opponents, and by the number of different titles. Drug taking has been rife and tackling it is years behind other sports. Even the press seem to "let it go" Corruption and match fixing at amateur level has been rife too. |

Top level Football managers .What other people can get sacked for being crap and walk away with millions because of their contract and then get another management position within weeks . These people should be paid on results basis only .

The audience figures of the sport are always going to dictate the wages. I think that's where the argument for equal pay in women's football falls down.

As a well known incoming Scottish entrepreneur/businessman club chairman once said on checking the books, and he was the first I ever heard asking, and surveying the financial history - "where did all the money go"?
In the days when the Jimmy Greaves's of the game were bussing it to home matches and players were paid like modern day immigrant farmlands Chairmen were robbing the game blind. These people must have pocketed quite colossal sums. |
