All of the mainstream bookies offer similar odds for football match betting (home. away, draw) but i have noticed that the odds for the draw on any given match here on Sportsbook are routinely half a point or more lower than all other bookies. This is despite the fact that the home or away team odds are pretty much in line with the others.
Does anybody know why this is ?

They'll just work to a bigger notional margin than others. However, they're also conscious of not looking competitive so they have to massage it to make sure they get the occasional box on oddschecker. So working to a higher margin while keeping your home and away high means your draw carries the burden.
Might actually mean a little bit of value on sub-markets like 1x2 handicap and correct score if you're into those. |

If you can get on with sports book, but why wouldn't you use exchange anyway?

took me a while to work out what I was looking at on the sportsbook having never used it but yeah the 90 mins payout not surprisingly I suppose have a much more padded over round.. roughly 114% vs 105 % for the CL final for example |

Thanks for replies. I haven't used sportsbook much for football before.
I was just curious why the draw odds are so much shorter every time, surely they cannot take any bets at those odds. I would use the exchange for singles but i also like to do multiple bets and often do draws which i have had some success with in the past. The home and away pre match odds on sportsbook generally mirror the high street bookies whereas the draw is much shorter, however i noticed tonight that once in play then the draw odds seem to go out to what they probably should have been at the start - so i will bear that in mind for the future. |

3.6 draw on exchange 3.2 on sb, with 90 min pay out 3.3 on exchange as part of a multi. |

90 min pay out showing as 2.80 to me, yhtl ?
match odds (no 90 min pay out) 3.20 they basically have to cover for two result pay out potential which is why they crush the draw on those.. |

Just clicked on page and it was advertising 90 minute payout but they are not the odds for it,.. They caught me. Draw is now 23/10 so 3.30 |

apart from multiples which has never really been my thing since betting shop days of youth just can't be doing with them...
even if you do ok for a while will be restricted or closed anyway..but from dixie's point of view - guess it comes down to how much you want to pay for injury time (90+) insurance.. most of BF's games seem very similar (they are one and the same aren't they with PP and Skybet) for the true result market..used to be 112% and trebles or more if not a featured game.. |

I have stopped using sportsbook because of the poor odds and use 365 instead as I am betting multiples on football more than single bets.

I got a Summer job when I was 19 in Northallerton in the mid 80s with a local independent bookie and it was minimum trebles (aways or draws) but five folds if you included homes. The owner's son (who later became a racing journalist, died young, and had a memorial race named after him at York) said that one team playing away at either Hartlepool or Darlington were betting the home side to win at one of their shops in Northallerton (when it was singles only) and that is why it changed to minimum trebles. Dunno if he was telling the truth, but always remember the story. Just checking and he died in 2007. How time flies. Last year I had a chat with his older brother who knows my parents, probably for the first time since I worked there.
