this has to be the first time hosts have had to qualify but then again there's two reserved places for 2 of the 4 hosts if they don't make it (England, Scotland, Wales, Ireland), and those two will go to two of the highest ranked teams, so England have basically qualified already, but have to go through qualifying, WTF is the point in that then

Competition, as opposed to friendlies, but with safety net.
Not so easy for England. Scotland got a couple of Serie A winners in midfield.
