Nottingham Forest striker Taiwo Awoniyi is in an induced coma after having the first phase of surgery on a serious abdominal injury.
The Nigeria international, 27, collided with the post in the 88th minute of the 2-2 draw against Leicester at the City Ground on Sunday as he attempted to get on the end of a cross from Anthony Elanga.
He had surgery on Monday night and remains in hospital, with the rest of the procedure set to be completed on Wednesday.
In a statement earlier on Tuesday, Forest said Awoniyi was "recovering well" following the operation.
After the incident on Sunday, he received treatment on the pitch and was able to continue but was visibly struggling when the match restarted.

they left him out on the pitch because he gave a thumbs up, but was obviously in pain so he shouldn't have had a say
Also raises the issue of not putting up the flag for clear offsides
Good point Tobes; it was a nightmare waiting to happen. Stupid rule.
Agreed. Any clear offside should be flagged instantly. If there’s doubt keep your flag down.

not sure why you need thumbs up when your wearing ear pieces,if your stood on the sidelines with a sub waiting to go on,maybe the thumbs up was yeh your good to go this fella wont be going back on,but I,m sure the message was passed vocally as well
There should be an independent doctor with no skin in the game assessing injured players.

I know it sounds a good idea but it's just another
