reached the stage of  having to pay fans to watch amirons  brand of football early than expected

Amorim wants out but always is at pains to align himself with the fans,he knows that this kind of action, although benevolent in appearance will really pi55 off Radcliffe because it brings front and centre the latest piece of mis-management by him, further under-lining the evil of the owner whilst the manager rides to the rescue.

who are you defining as the owner for context ?
Report duffy May 15, 2025 3:13 PM BST
I'm referring to Radcliffe's latest party trick which Amorim has seized upon and by putting his hand in his own pocket has really shown Radcliffe up, this act can only begin to drive a wedge between them.

It appears that Amorim has finally realized that he was not the right man for the job and is agitating for a way out, I just hope that when the next bloke comes in many fans and the board aren't hoodwinked once again by whoever City are linked with, especially when only a few months earlier, few had even heard of him.

Well the cost cutting at the margins is certainly tone death at times considering the modest sums involved but if you have the annual interest payments on Glazer debt and a pre Ineos wage bill off the charts that isn't producing on the field it has to all be funded somehow..

Ineos have at least put some of their own money in to the club and with the Glazers still by a large margin the majority owners the financial situation is very much on them.

With the hefty wages Amorim is being paid it's maybe more about his own embarrassment at so far not only failing to improve the team but actually making it worse.

Must admit I wouldn't have believed he could be sacked before the start of next season but if they don't win the Europa final (I make Spurs marginal favs) it's a distinct possibility.

when they started the cutbacks thing i thought it would be easier just to dump some wages because they've got a shed load of baggage, so it seemed a strange way to attack it

thing is now im suspecting they still intend to hack the wage bill, so the other stuff isn't the only cuts it's just the stuff they can do first, utd are going to be gutted and filleted and new in won't be on anything like the old out, which makes you wonder what they really can do this summer

Massively depends on the final with CL football vs no European football at all at stake..

they'll just about get away with it at least in the short term if they do win the Europa with CL qualification worth an estimated 70m in total income generated (prize money, sponsorship payments, tv rights etc)..

Anthony looks quite sellable now as he's been very good at Betis so may be looking at 25-30m for him..some talk of Greenwood potentially moving on from Marseille which would also generate a reasonable payment (they have 50% sell on clause).

Regardless of all that they simply have to start getting more decisions right in terms of recruitment, salaries, Managers..

yes, i'd guess the new league format in cl will help them although it's just more expense for fans that are already unhappy about pricing, the club will milk them if they make it

Fans want the expense of champions league, and or can sell on tickets for ucl
far more easily than europa or domestic cups.

If they don't then just maybe try another sport.
