Sept seems a long time time ago when arsenal were questioning every decision,goal,pen,red/yellow card could cost them the LG if they finished a point or 2 behind,goal difference etc ,

It doesn't change the fact that Arsenal had some disgraceful VAR decisions early in the season. The two sending's off for kicking the ball away (especially the Rice one), VAR has not been consistent in applying that throughout the season despite many examples since.

Even in the last match VAR did not disallow Bournemouth's 2nd goal for handball despite it hitting his elbow, siting there wasn't' a conclusive camera angle, even though a rudimentary understanding of physics made in overwhelmingly likely. However they did disallow a Havantz goal earlier this season for handball despite there not being as conclusive camera angle for that either. although tbf I think most fans would rather VAR was not a thing.

AND Arsenal are far less bottlers than most teams in recent seasons. Just rubbish spouted by rival fans masking their own teams failing of not even being able to get into a position to be accused of bottling winning the league.

As a fan of an opposing team, I'd say the way Arsenal fans have focused on VAR and tried to paint the PGMOL as anti-Arsenal has been very much bottle job territory. Very defeatist, getting excuses in before the clocks go back. If the club spend the summer focusing on that rather than on all the points lost from winning positions and the lack of open play goals, then I'd be chuffed going into next season.

as pointed out by me and others at the time,when in Aug.sept arsenal were employing the dark arts,bed wetting about goals, decisions,injuries , giving up their expansive attacking game,only winning the EPL would justify it all,even losing by a point would be disappointing but surrendering in APRIL has been an embarrassment in that context

Pineapple pinpointing a miniscule % of Arsenal fans talking about decisions on his social media feed or some cack, in Arsenal areas around London, all the fans I know have only really talk about how easy it's been for Liverpool due to lack of competition, in our case it has been key injuries throughout the season, whereas Liverpool have kept there's fit. by the time they were both back, was too late, Odegaard hasn't been the same player either.
It was the same when we were chasing City for the title, lost Saliba, replaced by Holding, who was horrific and quickly moved out of the club.

Liverpool have deserved to win the league, our medical staff should probably be quicky moved out of the club as well.

I think if we're all going to be simplistic and reductive, I'd pinpoint Arsenal's failings this term on their transfer business last summer. They got Calafiori who, despite looking decent, already has a big record of injuries despite only being 22. No shock to see him missing so much of the season. Merino has been half decent, weirdly mostly really when pushed into an emergency striker role. The Sterling loan remains a real head scratcher. And despite going into the season with Havertz and Jesus as the attacking options, Arteta didn't get another face in there where it was probably most needed.


There looks like a medium sized overhaul is needed this summer with the likes of Tierney, Zinchenko, Partey, Jorginho, and maybe Jesus looking at being offloaded. Fans must hope for a better summer from the manager this time around to arrest the decline. The likes of Saliba and Saka only have two years left on their contracts and may start wondering if the club matches their ambition if he doesn't.

The Sterling loan was because they were too tight for FFP to sign a striker, same with getting 'another face in there'. And it's not necessarily the manager's fault, it could be the likes of Edu etc not landing the manager's targets and not just last summer either. But it was a poor window whoever you want to blame.

A win against Southampton and top 5 is guaranteed. 2 points is very highly likely to be enough. 1 point probably will be.

It could be the manager, he's signed more keepers than attackers since he joined. He may have thought the team had enough goals in it last summer, they had just scored 88 and 91 goals in the PL with guys like Jesus and Nketiah getting a lot of game time. That's pretty remarkable when you think about it but he has to change this summer. He only has one elite attacker.

Turn 7 draws into wins and it puts a different perspective on things. Add to that the brilliance Liverpool have shown and the luck they have made despite imho not being the best side as we have seen being knocked out of all the cups.

You go 2 or 3 down and there is no coming back. Once you let a lead slip everybody knows about it and everybody fancies their chances of a goal being 1-0 down to Arsenal.

Possible, but unlikely. I think City will finish second. I haven't gone through the fixtures line by line, but some of the contenders have to play each other. I can see Arsenal losing their next two after exiting the Champions League and having to rely on a point or win away at Southampton. The season has fizzled out somewhat, for sure.

next season feels like last chance Saloon, but I don't actually think it will be as long as top 4 is achieved, it's still the same owners as when Wenger was there, he was only given the back door after fans started to come to the Emirates dressed as red seats towards the end of his tenure after slipping out of the CL places. There's that clip of Arteta doing a training session before playing Liverpool and having the brainwave of playing YNWA and crowd noise over the top. Proper amateur hour and again felt really defeatist going into the game. Arsenal had won their last four games and were unbeaten in ten so should have been flying.

I really like Klopp. But is that the same Klopp that won one title in 9 years?

Give him his due he gets a good deal on hotel rooms.

lpools squad is klopps team pretty much, failed against city by the odd point, arsenal to my eyes have just a good a squad bar a striker like salah, manager isn't up to making the difference, some poor buys, still lacks tactical ability to make changes when needed, parked the bus against city when they bottled it, or maybe he bottled it

Agree elise it'll take 3 or 4 transfer windows for Slot to FU Klopp's squad.

Klopp would have 3 titles if City were like this year (rather like the year he won it). Arteta would have 2.

Building a top squad is part of the mark of being a top manager. Slot hasn't done this. That's not a criticism of him as he hasn't had to. And he's got top guys behind him at pool who will steer him and plenty of money so he should be better equipped to challenge next season than he was this. But I don't currently think Slot wins the league next year if City and Arsenal are at the level they were last year.

Fully expect Liverpool to have identified who they want and buy them. Fully expect Arsenal to buy more defenders and midfielders! Havertz recovery will be like buying a centre forward!

They were the better team over the 2 legs against PSG as they were against Madrid.  Not much wrong with them at all.  They'd be my pick for the league next season as things stand.

PSG looked like they were coasting in the second leg.
