This should be a very close game, think the overall tie will be decided by the odd goal but in the first leg because of the way they play, I am expected them to come at us all night to take a cushioned result back rather than trying to nick a 1 nil, feels like a score draw game or either side taking an odd goal lead into the second leg, PSG are levels above the Madrid team we played and the PSG side we already faced here earlier in the seasons in the groups, a draw would feel like a defeat as it'd be a tall order in the Parc De Prince to get a win. Will need another big performance from Rice who will be key. 2-2 or 2-3 Arsenal.

Kind Regards.

PSG are great to watch when in attack when things are going their way. Put them under pressure, and it's a different story. I think if Arsenal get any kind of win tonight they can frustrate PSG in the 2nd leg and go through. Liverpool should have beaten them, imo.

Arsenal very lucky to be 1-0 down halfway through this tie. They got away with it tonight. Lewis’s Shelley would have been better as the holding midfielder, he has the intelligence. Nwaneri should have come on earlier. Can’t complain . Should have been 2-0

PSG were excellent and should have been more positive and gone for the jugular. Arsenal were there for the taking tonight. Partey was a huge miss and next week he might be the difference in Arsenal keeping the ball and possibly doing something with it.
Report tobermory April 29, 2025 9:59 PM BST
Not really.

PSG created 4 decent chances and scored 1. That's about the what you'd expect.

Arsenal created a couple of better ones and didn't score.

0-1 was fair enough.

Abysmal stuff, didn't turn up. Blessed to be 1-0.
PSG are not as good as they were made look, Arsenal still have a chance if they put in a quality performance in the return leg, but I wouldn't fancy it.
Couldn't even muster up 10 minutes of the intensity Villa did against them or even threaten them once from a set-piece.
The whole team and fans had the stuffing knocked out of them with the early goal and didn't show any fight. Looked like Arsenal were happy to take the 1-0 the way they played the last 10 mins.

Odegaard was the worst of the lot. Physically and mentally weak, needs replacing. Pulling out of 50-50s all night and he's the captain! Awful set-piece delivery too but I think the players didn't get back onside before the ball was played for most of them, like the Merino 'goal', weren't flagged because the delivery was cleared by the first man. Arsenal have been cráp at set-pieces since Saka got injured months ago.

Rice, Raya, Skelly were decent, that's about it.

Arteta has never been much more than a poor man's Guardiola. His failure to bring home the bacon once again confirms this. Arsenal need to bring in someone like Diego Simeone. He'd tighten up the Arsenal midfield and defence plus he wears black so much better than Arteta.
Report unitedbiscuits April 30, 2025 7:33 AM BST
Arsenal don't actually play much open football, if they can help it. Shearer summed it up after their second last attack when the ref played advantage and Martinelli panicked and blazed high and wide: "The fans wanted a free kick, the players would have preferred it too." And Arsenal fans are awful, aren't they?
100% bar room lawyers, as soon as their team is faced with a setback, the reedy whining starts. All in all, on the pitch and in the stands, PSG showed them up.

Not an Arteta fan but we are 1-0 down at half time after playing terribly. Things can change it’s not all over yet.

Lest we forget before Gabriel and Saliba came back off loan spells? How many years?

Before Declan Rice, how many years?

Ok we still don’t have a centre forward for how many years?

Arsenal are making progress.

Let’s see what Santa brings this summer.

The tie is not over and we are not the finished article. If anything we should be grateful PSG decided not to win the tie on the night and have left the door slightly open.

Of course they're in with a chance at 0-1. Only a fool would say otherwise. Will be tough and they need to be on top of their game, but impossible doesn't come into the equation. Will be watching the second leg in the comfortable position of not giving a fk. Manicurists in Holloway and surrounding areas will not be open for a week after. No point.

Football is not my religion. I just want to see a good game, Arsenal play well and win. They have it in them. A lot will be put on Partey now but he has the ability not just to patrol but break the press.

Plenty of long ball availing the right. They may have to sit deeper and bring Arsenal on if their press is broken. If Arsenal have the ball they have a chance. They kept giving it away yesterday

The Spain allegations were from a UK woman, she didn't report it to the Spanish cops or get swabbed, she waited to return to the UK and reported it to the UK police. I doubt the SPanish cops have any interest in him whatsoever.

Another woman was his ex-wife who he was going thru a nasty breakup/divorce with and made an allegation, again with zero evidence as she said it happened some time beforehand and didn't report it. He converted to Islam as she is Muslim and changed his name to Yakubu and he's since unconverted and married an English girl and has a kid with her.

If you feel it smart to jump to the conclusion of guilt in cases like that then off you go. The nearly always come from jilted women who the player is about to break up with.

What were the odds for that game ? I doubt nobody gave them a chance

Juventus were sitting in 6th position in Serie A at the time, scoring only 34 goals in 30 games and had come through the group stages winning 1 game and drawing 5, they couldn't beat Galatasaray and Bilbao at home and limped past Olympiakos in the quarters, United were going for a treble. Maybe Juve were still favourites but I doubt nobody was giving United them a chance.

Arsenal can turn this tie around though but Odegaard is the biggest issue, he's been a passenger since his return from injury offering nothing and ducking out of 50/50 challenges probably to avoid getting injured again. I can see it going to penalties. PSG are not better than us when we're at out best, but atm they are just far more intense earlier on in games whereas we grow into a late and that was basically the difference here.

I thought Arteta's pre match, tik-tok call to arms was embarrassing, I'd expect that maybe in a final, but even then it was a cringy. He's reached a crossroads now, he needs to win something big either this season or next, or next will definitely be his last. I wouldn't mind Klopp coming in at all, used to call for him to be the Arsenal manager before he even went to Liverpool. Though I doubt he's want to manage another English club now.

Kind Regards.
