They've only scored 54, so that's more than 20%. Lukaku has 12 but 3 were pens. Carrying them to the title. They love him over there. Fair play to him.

If that one off play off game ended in a draw, it goes straight to pens, a title decided by penalties seems daft, can understand it in knock out comps but not for a league, though I suppose there's no other way other than a rematch and having 'two finals' like they used to for FA Cup finals is just as daft, so it's sods law.

I read that Italian authorities could move it if it were at the San Siro citing 'public disorder' as a reason. In general a play off match is still a much better idea than what happened with City winning their first title on goal difference in 2013, which imo was just a big fat Asterisk title. Still Napoli shouldn't be throwing it away from here. Billy Gilmour would win the title as well.

Arsenal won on GS in 89, even closer than City in 2012 (but not according to Martin Tyler and Sky). Both titles are perfectly fine as everyone knew where they stood and played the run-in accordingly.

Deciding it over the 38 same fixtures played is the only way, with the tie-breakers set from the start. This is the essence of a league, consistency over the same fixtures.

It should only be reduced to a play-off if they have identical records and there is no metric separating them over 38. A play-off turns it into a KO tie which is affected by injuries, suspensions, recent form, H2H matchup with one team only etc. It should only be reduced to a KO format as a last resort but the rules have to be like that from the start and they aren't here.

Surely it's up to leagues to decide how they settle level
points teams.

Some go on head to head over goal difference and others use
goal difference.

As long as the rules don't change mid season there should be no complaints, I would prefer goal difference as it might stop teams settling for a 1 0 lead and try and score more.

thought McTomminay was actually one of United's better players at the time and surprised they let him go, but then they probably had to justify the Casemiro and Mount buys so him leaving freed up one more place for competition.

I never thought he was good enough to be a United player. Then he had decent season, seemed like he improved a fair bit and grew to like him. Had no idea how well he was doing in Italy. Pleased for him.

He clearly wasn't good enough for where united want to be but he was one of the last players fans wanted sold. The ones the fans want out the door first are the hardest to get rid of.

United are in a similar position to where Chelsea have been for a few years - tight for FFP and if you want to spend on new players you have to sell youth products as they generate FFP profit which allows you to spend, and none of your recent purchases are sellable because they are underperforming and would generate a FFP loss which you don't have any room for (and very few would pay them the same or more wages, like eg Rashford).

More often than not they've replaced them with players who are no better. Ugarte is a different player but hardly makes them better in midfield. Under ETH united never scored anywhere near enough goals, so taking McTs goals out of the side made it an even worse decision.

Mctom probably wanted Bruno Fernandes role but Bruno is better, so best for all
that player moves on and man utd get cash and have Mainoo as Bruno back up.

lurka's post explains perfectly why United are completely stuck for the foreseeable future because they would need to be able to seek out and buy "bargains" that improve the team for a song and United's scouting department are not capable of that.

They should look to the Brighton's of this world for guidance in that department.
