Whilst we wait for the big games today, here's a quick music quiz I've thrown together to keep some of you occupied. All can be googled, but that's not in the spirit of things. Good luck.

1-Who wrote ‘Mad Dogs and Englishmen’?

2-Which band did Ian Curtis front?

3-Which song had the lyrics “all lies and jest, still, a man hears what he wants to hear and disregards the rest”?

4-What is the most covered song of all time?

5-In 1980, Liverpool woke to the loss of one of their favourite sons, John Lennon. What date was this?

6-This question was previously asked in one of my early century quizzes. Nobody got it right, so I’ll ask again… Which artist has had the most consecutive number 1 hits on the Billboard Top 100?

7-Blur’s seventh album was titled ‘Think Tank’ – What was their 8th album called?

8-What was the last (to date) UK song to win the Eurovision Song Contest?

9-The Bowie album ‘Alladin Sane’ was a pun meaning what?

10-Hazel O’Connor had 2 UK Top Ten hits. Eighth Day was one, what was the other?

John Lennon was pronounced dead at 11.15pm on 8th December 1980, however; as mes soon figured out, it was 4-5am on 9th in the UK, or 'Liverpool' as the question asked - Bonus point for mes for deciphering the trick in the question and also for PoP for knowing it was early(ish) December. Never easy to guess an actual date.

The answer to the most consecutive Billboard Top 100 #1's is... Whitney Houston

Unless you're a huge fan, Blur might not easy at all, it was... The Magic Whip
