I don't think it stems from his comments and views I think you can trace it back to his split from his first wife, back in the day they were seen as the model wholesome couple, if I remember they did segments on wish you were here, then she divorced him on grounds of unreasonable behaviour and although not linked, soon after he was dating Danielle Bux (jammy fooker), his ex has maintained a low profile ever since concentrating on bringing up the boys and I think all that sullied the view of him with a few and it's grown from that.

Personally I think it is his views. As an ex-Spurs player we may give him a little more rope, but his political views didn't help my own view of him. Don't mind his views, but I do mind him trying to push them on others. Didn't sit well with me.

Avoids tax on his earnings using an intermediary limited company. We could fund the NHS twice over if all millionaires paid tax and NI at standard PAYE rates.

It's the Bono effect, when you start going on about politics it puts people off, sport and music the two greatest forms of escapism from people's everyday lives. They followed Lineker initially on social media because of his sports background then he foisted politics onto them so they unfollowed.
He obviously reached a point in his career when he just didn't care anymore about consequences as he'd made enough money and had a long enough run as presenter in plum roles. He is an excellent presenter though, you only realise how good someone is at their jobs when you see their stand in's. Alex Scott for example just makes you feel uncomfortable, unless she's wearing one of her tight dresses, because she has no presenting skills or chemistry with guests and isn't natural, makes you appreciate how good the likes of Gabby Logan and Hazel Irvine and Sue Barker are, that women who replaced Barker at Wimbledon, Isa Guha, is as dull as bread, duller. Even though right wingers hate him, I'm willing to bet they'd still rather live next door to him than Tommy Robinson lol. Kind Regards. |
