Ivory Coast won $7m (£5.5m) for winning Afcon 2023
Argentina won $42m (£33.3m) for winning the last World Cup Spain won approximately 28m euros (£23.4m) for winning Euro 2024. Spot on Carra. It is a second rate comp. |

Nothing more a sign of the times in 2025 than Mock Outrage. Rio saying he's ignorant is stupid and is merely just a pandering comment.
All he was saying is that winning the ACON doesn't carry the same weight as winning the Euro's or the Copa America because it doesn't and that in turn means it's less likely an African player would win the Balloon Door. It's not as valued because the strength of sides in Europe and South America has historically and currently proven to be far higher than in Africa and Asia come to that as reflected in the success at World Cups since Day 1. Since the inaugural World Cup in 1934 only 1 single African country has made it to the last 4 and that was Morocco recently, and only 1 Asian country, South Korea in 2002, even they had a European coach and were at home. It simply demonstrates the lack of quality in those regions on a world level. Only 1 single African player has ever won best player, Weah. I'm surprised Kane is 25/1 to win the next Baloon Door, if he wins the European Golden shoe Again which looks likely, the Bundesliga and the Champions League, I'd have thought it'd nailed on. Though realistically he'd have to win the Champions League, when Salah won it in 2019, Messi won the Best player award and all he won that season was a bog standard La Liga title but he was top scorer in Europe so maybe that played a part, it would help if Salah scored more goals in this comp but he's only mustered up 3 goals with Kane on 7. Having said all that, think Mbappe will get it if Madrid win in Europe again. Kind Regards. |
