Arsenal getting a Dutch club, that's us through to the quarter finals

Liverpool getting PSG or Benfica, Villa getting Dortmund or Brugge

Could be an all Madrid derby

Kind Regards.

Arsenal will take care of either Madrid, just a matter of who reaches the final between England's top two clubs.
Report CLYDEBANK29 February 21, 2025 11:33 AM GMT
It was literally the worst possible draw for Arsenal.  7 of the top 8 in the respective pairs are top half (exception being Brugges) and away 2nd leg quarter final and semi final. 2*2*2*2*2*2.  A 63/1 shot

Good team but no where near the same level of a few years ago with Ronaldo, Benzema and Prime Modric etc.

Should be done and dusted in the first leg, they got lucky coming up against the weakest City side since the Arab takeover.

Feels like it's our year, almost 20 years after being robbed in Paris.

Kind Regards.

Arsenal will struggle to beat anyone, PSV included. Tough draw for Real but they're still the team to beat. The last 2 times they've won it they've not been great, outplayed and close to going out multiple times but still got thru. I wouldn't fancy Arsenal against them 2 goals up with 10 mins left. Wouldn't fancy them against Atletico either.

We'd demolish PSV the same way we did with them last season at the Emirates 4-0 when they were a much better team, won the Eredivisie scoring 111 goals conceding 21. Might draw away again but job will be done at home.
Report lurka February 21, 2025 12:31 PM GMT
Stop comparing group games to KO ties. Arsenal's attack is shot to bits. Struggled to score against Leicester.

You're worrying about a Dutch side FFS, we have Nwaneri, Trossard, Odegaard and even Martinelli may be back. Leicester rarely concede more than 2 at home to anyone, only twice this season have they done so at home. Group games last season were important as top usually got a better draw. Kind Regards.

Have to agree, in fact horrible draw for all teams in the top half including all three English teams. Surprised Bayern Munich are a bigger price than Arsenal, they have every chance of getting to the final. I've laid Arsenal for a bit more as they haven't got the firepower to get past the qtr final stage and backed Real as 5.7 seems a decent price.
Report The Dragon February 21, 2025 1:42 PM GMT
yes not good for english teams. great route to final for Barca i reckon
Report The Dragon February 21, 2025 1:46 PM GMT
5.6 for barca , might go in again . i backed them at 9.25 sometime ago

also on liverpool at 6.21 but they are out to 7.2 given the draw

Why is playing 2nd leg away a bad thing? Makes no difference.

If you are level after 180 mins, playing another 30 away from home isn't much of a big deal. 2nd leg away is more of a disadvantage if you are playing a more experienced CL team imo and Arsenal are very inexperienced at this level.
Report mesmerised February 22, 2025 10:33 AM GMT
that's only really true if both legs were 0-0

if you've won 1-0, 2-0, 2-1, 3-1 etc at home and the score is reversed 2nd leg, then playing another 30 minutes away at the Bernabeu for example does count when the score is running against you, then there's pens.

Playing away 2nd leg I always thought was more preferable when there were away goals where there was no comeback for the home team and they were constantly chasing if scores were level, and the away team didn't need to bother. Thankfully they done away with that nonsense rule.

Hopefully arsenal can take care of either Madrid side better than they took care of West Ham .

Blush Ah yeah, forgot the away goals don't count. IMO they should count for the extra time (rather than at end of FT in 2nd leg) . As it is now it is certainly a disadvantage. They really shouldn't even have 2 legged ties. If you finished 3rd in the table you should have a one off home tie vs anyone who finished lower. Finish 3rd and teams that were 10 places lower actually have an advantage Plain

Hardly broken sweat.

Already beat PSG with ease.

Maybe Villa will be the biggest hurdle.
