I remember Lou because he was a bit of a gambler back in the day and used to visit my betting shop outside Stamford Bridge on occasion.

I had no idea of his charitable endeavours.  Anyhow He watched a program on homelessness in 2016, got in his car and went round the streets of Stoke to see for himself.  Then set out his own foundation helping the homeless get back on their feet.

What a man!

Without giving too much away, the chap was a great player & punting manager. Simple.

I was at Oxford dogs when the Ladbrokes rep asked the bookie I was working for, what the hell is the Swindon full back having a 1000/4000 on with us at Cheltenham races, a few days before the Newcastle v Swindon FA Cup game ?

Cant say too much more, but for a teetotaller to get his players pissed up in the hotel before the game ensured the 1/4 shot was more like a 1/50 shot.

All allegedly of course ?

Swindon had £5k on at 5/1 that they got promoted.

So lost 5k when their play off win was overturned because of gambling
on that game. There's apparently a cheque from labdrokes to
then club chairman who had much more on than alleged bet by Macari.

Gazza scored 2 iirc, and played well.

He possibly had a few beers night before game!!!

Wasn't great manager in Glasgow but Celtic were in deep trouble then and Rangers were on fire.
However his charitable work needs to be commended, tells some good stories, are they true ? don't know wasn't there.
Apparently loved a punt, who doesn't on here
