What a different England performance this evening to wednesday's game against Greece? Are Greece not a more superior side than Ireland? Ireland have been defending well.

Well this a nothing match, in a nothing tournament, England would be better to not winning this game and get knocked out in the play offs and have a summer off.

Blimey! I thought England were playing away! Maybe the calibre of English managers eg Mr Southgate and Mr Carsley has shown how inferior our managers are in comparison to others; the long tenure of Mr Southgate could not have helped either.

I can never understand why players get booked and or sent off, when a penalty is given, the player doesn't mean to bring him down in the penalty box and if a player is brought down when 1 on 1 in the penalty are, just give the penalty, far too many players being sent off for nothing these days.

He brought Solanke on forGallagher. We need more players in the box.
Gordon was not very effective so good to see Roger’s get a go and boom another first goal scorer

It's dogso, innit, so red and free kick outside box, yellow in box
He got first yellow for time wasting / delay of game so funny that he gets sent off.

So football rules in it's wisdom, decides to punish Arsenal in 3 ways.
1. Reduced to 10 men 2. Second Choice keeper introduced. 3. First choice outfield player subbed for 3rd choice keeper.
All because Lemon Lehman rushed out of his goal a bit too early where clearly a free kick would have sufficed.
A penalty is punishment enough, you have a 75% chance of scoring, no need to ruin the game for everyone, nobody wants a 1 sided match, TV doesn't want it, sponsors don't want it, fans don't want it, and fans start to switch off in droves like tonight when Ireland start conceding 2+ with 10 men away from home, it's an archaic rule that needs scrapping.
Kind Regards.

1930 - In Anthony Gordon, Conor Gallagher, Jarrod Bowen, and Taylor Harwood-Bellis, four players have scored their first England goal in the same game for the first time since October 1930 v Northern Ireland (Harry Burgess, Jimmy Hampson, Sammy Crooks, Eric Houghton).

These new yellow cards for silly things are what is ruining the game, although Scales first yellow was a yellow 10 years ago. The 2nd was mandatory as Bellingham had a clear goalscoring opportunity. If you are going to give silly yellows then you need to bring in a sin bin. They have been gradually trying to get rid of most tackling for 30+ years. This is their latest attempt.

i'm not saying ireland are great myself but they should have got 2 penalties, if converted ? big if I know, they game would obviously have changed, who knows ?
The jersey pull is a stonewall penalty every week on var in english premier league. I don't know how anybody can argue with that. Anyway agreed ireland and england are not very good.

if that's not a penalty give the game up, if ireland had converted, big if i agree but it would have been converted, totally different game.

Weren't pelanties, and var won't overturn ref on obvious exaggeration
If players had stood up and shot they might have scored.
Guy trying to get Kane sent off was funny too
And time waster got 2nd yellow and sent off
Maybe this shithousery works sometimes but crying when it backfires is an occupational hazard

so pulling somebody's jersey in penalty box is allowed, ive no problem with that, if that is rules you want, so change the rules, but as far as i'm aware currently, that is stonewall penalty

no idea why anybody who knows anything about fitba, can dispute why that is not a penalty, might not have been converted right enough, but its stonewall penalty

The photo in your link shows Fergusons arm impacting England player.
I'm not sure you understand the laws, their interpretation, and application.
If Ferguson is simply fouled rather than actively tusslingthen then maybe a pelanty is awarded. But is that really stopping a fit young man from having a shot?
The referee was consistent throughout blowing up in favour of defensive team, so unlikely he awards a pelanty for an incident shown in photo.

Italy beating England is irrelevant. What kind of claim is that? Wasn't your team. Ireland are crap and nobody even gives a second though about playing them

If ref and var had been Irish they may have overlooked the foul by Irish player and awarded a pelanty.
Sadly for Ireland the ref and var are neutral and know the laws of the game.

I thought both Ferguson and Szmodics should have had penalties for essentially the same thing. At the very least ref should have been sent to monitor. 20 years ago if you got anything on the ball and took the man after it was fine. But we have consistently seen that where you don't get enough to take it away from the attacker and he is in pole position to get to it and is taken down a pen is given. Guehi pulled Ferguson down and Walker tripped Szmodics. Neither player made enough of a complaint tho, which was naive.
England deserved winners and would have won even if a pen was given, seeing as they had to to top group.

Ref only sent to monitor if var deems him to have made clear and obvious error
If ref communicates to var they are fouling each each other and then on second shout that it's an accidental coming together then they are not errors.
They are what happened
Pity we can't hear ref and have to guess.

Ferguson wasn't fouling Guehi, Guehi had a hold of his shirt which is arguably a penalty in itself. Ref gave a goal kick, didn't give a free-kick (or a penalty either). I doubt he told the var he saw Guehi pulling his shirt and even if he did he should have been sent to monitor.

Of course Ferguson was fouling Guehi, and that was first contact
The shirt tug inside box must have been 4th or 5th contact
As you see from photo in link Ferguson is clearly still fouling guehi
But forget Fergusons fouls and pick what you want and you can have a pelanty, in yer dreams.
