League One

see our odds actually drifted a bit now...more tempted...

Missing Pointon, he's a big miss sadly.

Bit of a driffy for your boys stu at mighty Stevenage.  Perhaps the smallest team in the league in terms of history and support against one of biggest.  Stevenage close to full strength  and have their best squad ever (as seen by how well the 2nd string is doing in the EFL Trophy)  Kemp is the playmaker, the other forwards work their socks off and the centre halves are the leaders.  Normally used to a sea of changes over the Summer, but the club has managed to retain their better players lately.  Always think the bubble is about to burst though.

bradford 1 up in 3 mins

didn't take long

late goal gives bolton the win

1-1 stevenage

Yes, your lot have done extremely well so far this season CB, as you say comparing the size of the club for this league level. But you've deserved those results so far, which is why I didn't underestimate them in betting today. I'm still hoping we can nick this one, as it would be a top result for us - hope you do well rest of the season though.

Two games tonight and both pretty hard to call.

Bradford 4th v Lincoln 6th is tough to call with both teams in good form. Bradford are very strong at home with 5 wins and a  draw. Lincolns away form is ok but they have not won away in the three games they have palyed againdst teams above 15 th posi.

HOME win for me at a decent price of 6/5.

Second game is Mansfield v Plymouth. Plymouth have had a funny season , terrible start followed by a good period and now have had 2 losses and a draw in the last 3 games. they have lost 4 out of 6 away games and all games to teams at the higher end of the league. Mansfield are currently 8th.
Mansfield have lost 1 in 6 but have drawn 3 of them.their home form v teams 14th and below is 3/3. plymouth are 22nd.

Ive gone for a HOME win at 6/5.

Also done the home win double

stockport at 6/5 v under performing luton look an attractive bet tomorrow,

stockport won 4 on the bounce and 5 in 6. unbeaten in 7. and top of the table

luton lost all 3 away games v top teams and won 1 in 6 v top 8

Stockport had a chance to come back at 0-2, penalty saved. A third with a breakaway. How it goes sometimes.

Looks like JW is getting a bit of shape into the side, plenty of good players that needed some structure about their game. Three home games out of four against lower sides gives him an opportunity to go a bit further up the league. Hope so.

football can be cruel sometimes

vwd barstool great result for the hatters

had a bet on Peterborough  9/4 to win at Doncaster tomorrow.

4th placed Lincoln at home shd beat bottom club Port Vale and 21/20 looks an attractive price.

Luton v Bolton big game, draw probably the outcome.

2 out of three aint bad

Wigan Athletic are hosting Burton Albion tonight.

With the 0-0 home draw against Stevenage, Wigan Athletic shared the points, extending their unbeaten run to 5 matches in the league.

Burton Albion have ended a 4-match unbeaten run in the league after their 0-4 home defeat against Leyton Orient.

i fancy a draw on this one

1-0 wigan, burton cdnt find the equaliser

home win double for bolton 10/21 and cardiff 3/4 are my bets in this league this weekend

i have backed Peterborough to beat Port Vale this weekend at 11/5.

Hoping Stockport can win away at Mansfield as their away form is pretty decent only losing 2 in 9 with 5 wins. mansfield only won 1 in 7. 11/10 is a bit skinny mind

nice winners today ,,,great stuff

Backed two home wins toady in Leagie 1 -BLACKPOOL and BRADFORD  two singles and a double.

Also backed Lincoln at Barnsley

Bradford to beat Rotherham is my main bet of the weekend - see my thread for details.

Added Cardiff at Oreient and Huddersfield must have a chance at Stockoppoort as Stockports home recent form aint good.

Gone for overs in the Luton v Stevenage game at 2.5

on exeter to beat rotheram tomorrow. doubled with cariff away at burton.

plymouth are in good form and 4/1 looks big v stovckoport who struggle at home.

northampton maybrr a lay given their form at home to reading

backing stockport and only selection in league one although lincoln and cardiff are decent prices given their current form

Thought I would bring this thread up for the 2026/27 season to continue the discussions around the league.

Leicester look very short to me at 11/5 on here and i think the league could be wide open. Ive taken some of 25/1 on Stockport which i thought was too big for a team beaten in the play offs.

Newcomers MKD also look too short and plymouth are deffo worth a look at 13.5 on here. Luton could go well after agreat finish to the last season but i was hoping for around 10/1 to be interested- they are 7.8 second favs on here.

Sheff Wed could be anything but one to keep an eye on

Comments gratefully received.

Think I will go for a flyer, small win Peterborough & Wimbledon and top 6 as well.

If Luton can start well then they could take a bit of catching.

Only had two pre season bets,

Luton @ 7/1

Luton/ Carlise double @ 35/1  (Bet365)

Sheffield Wednesday are well up there as second favourite's but although a Wednesday fan I would lay them at 5/2. They really are a poor bunch and the new players dont inspire.
I have backed Huddersfield and Bradford as top Yorkshire team with bet 365. Must be one of them if Wednesday flop as I expect. Pays a bit better than evens.

5/2 for promotion I mean.

Your guys got some good signings, Bannon and Barry and Mitchell, enough for topish finish this year surely, given some championship experience in there too from before?

Nope. Bannan is a good player but getting on a bit and needs good players around him for his excellent passing skills. Barry may be ok but the defence is a shambles and experience of the championship isnt much good if you were getting thrashed every week. The defence plays head tennis instead of passing out and like to boot the ball as far as they can. It invariably comes straight back. There are much hungrier teams about in league 1.

Fair enough, my main bet for this league this season is Burton relegation. I think they will struggle, but also could even have threats of points penalties to add to that.

Yes. Thats a good call. Good luck.

Why has the relegation market on here suddenly been voided it looks like??

My bets on Burton have been returned to me, but looked like whole market gone!

There's a new market formed, but 0 matched showing!

Just checked my bets history on exchange and all my Burton bets have been voided as status! They are now listed in this current new market so wtf!

no idea stu... is a team due a points deduction is the only thing i can guess at

That shouldn't make any difference, the rule included points deductions as valid bets still I checked before. I'm on to CS and they are trying to now say my bets were not matched!! Totally not true.

They've clearly voided the previous market, as there's a new on for L1 releg with 0 matched!

If they have voided this, that is the end for me in backing the longer term markets on here - can't trust it at all!

Confirmed they voided the original market, due to being 'malformed' but are not able to provide any details as to what that means apparently.

I am not happy.

Loving the way they first tried to lie to me and tell me my bets didn't match and lapsed too!

Weird! Glad I had Burton with 365 at 11/8.   Still available I think.

Can't bet with them brians. I had actually got a very nice position and price on here for Burton, which has now completely gone, great!

from the opening day fixtures im on Bradford to beat Peterborough at 1.7,and Blackpool to draw with wycombe at 3.40.

Plymouth v Stockport should be a good one - marginally interset on away win but no bet.

Oxford v MKD another interesting one with a relegated team v a promoted team lots of early noise that MKD could go well this season.

Noots co v Leicester is the same as above so agian of interest to see how both teams go in a higher and lowe league. I fancy leicester but they are a bit short?

Heard bit of Burton's manager earlier he sounded very downbeat about the squad. Tyreese shade? Subject of a few bids apparently someone has offered 1.5 million for him, they only have 6 subs today and he's not included. Could be a very long season for them.

Burton solid draw unlucky not to win v Stevenage (top side last year) - think I will become a Burton fan after Betfair ruined my relegation bets on them

Bromley win their first game away from home too - so much for the relegation favourites this year so far....

Good start for us both yesterday Dragon. Impressive result for your boys at Plymouth.

Three avoidable goals gave Reading a squeak, Luton well deserved the win though and the squad looks very strong now.

Keep well.

didn’t do too bad on first-day last weekend as Bradford my main bet of the day beat Peterborough comfortably. I also had Luton and Stockport so not too bad . Leicester were a disappointment and I got the draw with Blackpool v Wycombe.

This weekend Luton and Stockport shd win again so two singles and a double thee. Overs 2.5 looks a decent shout in the Wycombe v Plymouth game and Mansfield should get something at Peterborough. Small interest on Wigan also at home to orient

Luton threw 2 points away. Notts County not up to much, just did not want to lose. Scrappy match to watch and the Ref was awful too.

Some funny results all round today, not safe to bet on any one yet.

leicester with a bad start as well. could be a surprise winner this season

total wipeout -hey ho

Notts Co had a tough intro to L1, Leicester H and Luton A. I think they will be happy with two draws Barstool, they can go for a win against the likes of Burton next week.

not much to go on this weekend imvho and i think a lot of draws and low scores maybe in order.

My only bet is OVER 2.5 Mansfield v Luton. Currently 4/6 with 365 - no price yet on exchanges.

Leicester will turn it around and win at a canter i think .
remember the opening day for Norwich all those years ago  ...losing at home 1-7 to Colchester ...i think they were home and hosed by Easter lol .

they did sack the manager  straight away ... might have to do the same with Russell.

6/4 away at mkd this weekend coachy- nice price if they can start a resurgence there

or just keep doubling up Dragon  lol

they looked very good at Portman road  against what was a Championship line up from Ipswich ... at least deserved a draw

one bet one win on overs in Mansfield v Luton at the weekend.

going the same when Luton play Stockport on Wednesday at 1.74. full logic on thread i put up for the match.

rest of the midweek games are a watching brief

Leicester look short against Plymouth considering their poor form so far. Donny too have had a bad start to the season although their price is a bit more realistic against unbeaten Notts. Just my observations I won't be risking any Monet on them tonight.

great win for Cambridge away at Bradford although they may have been a tad fortunate winning against the run of play they move up to 4th place.

reading thump bromley 0-5- wow.

leicester beat Plymouth and sheff wed move up to second winning at Wycombe who are struggling. remaining fixtures this evening

some interesting games this weekend. i like the look of overs in the Blackpool and Mansfield games but my main bet is:

sheff wed are at home to Wigan this weekend . Its top v bottom.

Wednesday won 4/5 ,Wigan lost 4/5.

5/6 on here seems a great price for a home win.

Stockport v Leicester cd be anything but hoping for a strong home win.

A good time to be playing Leicester. Only won one and  fans calling for Russell Martins sacking already.

Will be doubling Stockport with Luton (5/4 at Stevenage) tonight.

Luton very poor. Some good players but not a team.

It will cost them.

Automatic promotion out of the window after that showing.

They were below par Barstool but they were robbed for both the Stevenage goals imo.

The first looked like a foul on the defender (Walsh) and the second was surely way offside, how the linesman didn't see that is baffling ?

Quite right Dixie, awful stuff all night from the ref, one of the worst I have seen in this league and there are some bad ones!

Teams like Stevenage know how to get by in this league, physically adapt well and defend for their lives, very hard to break down.

Luton still finding it hard to come to terms with.

Leicester too.

Stevenage are very good at home last season their figures at home were:

Won 14 Drawn 7 lost 2 and were only 1 point behind Bradford in points gained at home of the teams not promoted.

Luton will be there or thereabouts at the end of the season. From memory they had a poor start last season and finished in the play offs so very early days for them.

nowt wrong with Stevenage's first goal.  Ref was 3 yards away and looking straight at it.  Luton should  have had a man sent off too for denying a clear goalscoring opportunity.  Ref was other end of the pitch (not his fault, it was a long ball) and he didn't even give a foul.  If he had it would've been a red card.   I'll admit their 2nd goal was offside.

So are you saying if a ref has a clear view he must have made the right decision ?  Strange take .

If the ref was at the other end of the pitch for the potential SO then his linesman should surely be helping him out ?
But if it was the same linesman that missed the blatant offside then i suppose that answers that question

Dragon, Luton hardly looked like scoring last night against a limited Stevenage side which is worrying. Not sure why Wells was on the bench (annoying for me as i have backed him to be top scorer this year ) but when he came on they did look a bit more lively. It's a long old season but they don't want to give up too many points early on or they will have too much to do again. Stevenage are doing better than i (and many others) expected as they lost some of their better players in the close season.  It will be interesting to see if they can maintain this good start.

Some odd results again yesterday.

Certainly no one getting a foothold on the top spots as yet.

Huddersfield to win at Bromley is very short but they should win.

Some great games knocking about. Not sure why Stockport are favs at top of the table Sheff wed who look big at 2/1.

Blackpool v Plymouth looks nailed on for goals and Luton v Bradford is a clash of two teams who are looking for promotion.

Boat race Oxford v Cambridge is an interesting one and looks like a draw to me.

I went to the Bromley game. My mate attended Blackpool away last week and said we were definitely looking better in terms of playing as a cohesive team. Today was another improvement. You can see that Huddersfield are a classy team with quality all over the pitch but we did not for one moment look outclassed today and I thought we were good for the 3 points. Met a few Huddersfield fans in the pub beforehand....a lovely bunch who were happy to chat away.

I wish them the best of luck for the season ahead.

Bromley have definitely collectively tightened the screws and if we continue to play with the passion and drive we showed today we may just be alright.

Thanks HN - Decent info that.

Only 4 games this weekend and looking at the fixtures they all could be tight contests.

Stockport v Peterborough looks like goals with 17 goals in Stockports 3 home games. over 2.5 is 1.40 so not much value there.

You wd expect Plymouth to beat Burton at home  at 4/6.

The other two are too close to call. So its no bets in this league for me this weekend

Burton beat Plymouth, Stockport win 1-0. both odds on prices were losers.

the other two games were both draws helped by very late goals.

only 3 games next weekend - madness.

4 points separate the top 10, looks like its going to be a close run league if the current form continues.

only 3 games this weekend and Reading v Bradford looks the pick of them.

This is the team with the best Home record v the team with the best away record. Reading are 11/8 and Bradford are 9/4 on the exchanges with the draw at 5/2.
Bradford have the best form with 3 wins on the bounce including 0-1 away wins at Luton and Notts Co. Reading have won all 3 home games scoring a massive 13 goals.

Too hard to call in my book but probably a draw looking the most likely outcome with Bradford only conceding 2 goals in 4 away games.

Burton are proving to be the surprise package of the league winning away at Plymouth last weekend and only losing 2 in 8 games. They lie 7th in the league.

Huddersfield have only lost once this season but have only won 2 in the last six. Burton look big at 3/1 and Huddersfield look short at 10/11. The draw is 5/2.

Again another tough one to call and maybe another draw is the likely outcome.

Final game is Orient v Plymouth and again another tough one to call. Perhaps Plymouth who have won 4/6 can get back to winning ways after their home defeat to Burton. Orient are poor at home with 3 losses in 4 games. Plymouth are short enough at evens but maybe they are good enough to win this one. Small bet on away win at Evens.

Any thoughts?

Warning on Bradford - we've been messed up by the manager leaving us mid-season like this. He had been so central to everything last couple of years.

I think we may be wobbly against Reading for sure.

i hadnt spotted than one stu - thanks- left to manage Preston for whom he made 400 appearances. lets hope you get a good replacement

did ok last weekend with correct score on Bradford 1-1 and the draw to boot also had the away win at Plymouth.

I like OXFORD this weekend to get the points at Notts Co and done the 1-2 correct score. Notts only won 1 in 6 and Oxford are unbeaten away with 2 wins and a draw. Oxford are 9/5 on here.

I have doubled them with READING  at 6/4wwho are away at MKDons. Dons have not won a game yet and are king of the draws and lie 3rd to bottom of the League. Reading are second in the form league with only 1 defeat in 6. A cover bet on the draw is also advised.

Bradford
Cambridge
Plymouth

£5 treble

Normally do 3 tenner trebles on a Saturday but on a hopeless run.

So watch them all win for sods law.

can anyone explain Stockport as clear favourites for this league ... totally confused .  just noticed this today

Laying Millwall at Preston today - new manager for the home side, big day for them, so don't see any value in Millwall as favourites here.

Dang, a 1-0 loss, after Preston had plenty of the match before the goal too...grr.

booommmm day for me today

Well played D.

thanks stu - correct score and two singles and a double to boot....happy days

just looking at the outrights in this league and i think OXFORD look to big at 25/1 with a few bookies.

They have played only 7 games with one defeat away at Huddersfield, they have a positive goal difference and it they beat Mansfield they go second in the table with two games in hand.

They only just went down last season and i think they may have slipped under the radar.play offs is 5/2 and promotion is 7/1 if you fancy a less risky price.

worth a flutter in my book.

One of the games in hand is against Reading however.

Mansfield only 2.44/2.46 seem a decent lay bet against Oxford?

Mansfield very strong at home with three wins and a. draw. oxford strong away with 3 wins and a loss.

Hard one to call stu but at the prices i think the home lay looks tempting. Not sure ill have a bet on it maybe one to watch and take notes.

Prediction from who scored website is as follows:

Mansfield made no mistake against League Two champions Bromley at the weekend, scoring twice before the 50th minute in a 2-1 home win. That result ended a five-match winless streak for the Stags heading into gameweek 11.

Oxford United held off a late Notts County charge on Saturday as Cameron Brannagan's late insurance goal proved enough for a 2-1 away win. The U's have taken 10 points from the last 12 available, leaving them eighth in the standings with two games in hand on the sides above.

Mansfield 1 Oxford 2

I think the lay is slightly value, enough for a punt - think Mansfield should be more like 2.8 or bigger.

Longer term side strength is probably the tipping factor for me - as you say they were a championship side last season, with a strong core from the previous season still.

ps. after tipping them in their first 'manager' home game, Preston are now completely cooked IMO - they don't have any impetus and a weak side looking relegation fodder from here.

yup looking grim for them for sure one win and one draw from 10 games does not bode well . away to wrexham next

Preston price has drifted from around 5.1 out to 6.6 for this match today!

my only bets in this league was reading who lost 1-0 at wigan despite having 17 shots. luton who continue to disappoint and cambridge who got a good away win at struggling barnsley

nice win for stockport so my antepost bet on them remains strong- early days mind

sheff wed are going well and seem to be slipping under the radar

blackpool in free fall after a decent start to the season

full set of fixtures tonight other than Reading v Orient on Wednesday.

I fancy three away teams as follows :

Bradford at Burton 11/10, Stockport at Donny at 10/11 and Sheff Wed at Notts Co at 5/4.

3 singles a Patent and a treble

only got one win midweek which was disappointing. sheff wed are a hard team to work out- win 5-0 them lose 2-0 to a team that have lost 4 on the bounce

in terms of this weekend Huddersfield , Stockport and Reading are the teams i will be backing. They are all short prices but would be surprised if the treble doesnt land.

in the other games Stevenage at 21/20 look value to beat MKD.

Any views appreciated.

oxford v bradford is game of the day and oxford seem big at 9/5

fancy oxford today at 6/4,

stockport, mansfield and luton are my other bets
