I am not one to post my bets but I've had over the summer a series of bets on Birmingham to win league If they win I'm off to Vegas lose I'm camping in back garden
Port Vale are at home to Cardiff on Thursday evening. they were 2 seasomns apart last year with Cardiff relegated from the Championship and Port Vale promoted from Div2.
Cardiff won their first game 2-1 v P'Boro, Port Vale lost theirs 2-1 v rotherham away.
Im having a go at an away win here at around 6/4.

Third League games of the season coming up at the weekend and here are my thoughts on some surprising prices knocking about.
Still early doors of course so caution is the key word and team selection dependent but:
Not sure why HUDDERSFIELD are 2.82 (price now shotrtened away at Blackpool). Huddersfield have strengthened over the Summer and have won first two games scoring 5 and conceding 0. Also beat Championship Leicester on pens midweek. -hoping it didnt take too much out of them though. Blackpool lost first two games and midweek game also.
STEVENAGE 2/2 at home to Northampton at 1.78 look a good home banker.
Two promoted teams DONCASTER 2.52 and BRADFORD at 3.55 have started well and both at home look worth a bet at decent prices. Ive done 2 singles and a double.
STOCKPORT at 2.56 are defo worth an interst away to Orient.
Reading v Wimbleon looks like an unders.
GL if u give any of them a go
Any views always appreciated.

not a bad outcome for me as all bets were winners apart from Huddersfield who lost 3-2 v 10 men Blackpool
Stockport went to up so i got that one and i cashed out on Donny immediatley after they went 1- 0 up.
Full set of fixytures on Tuesday evening so ill post a few thoughts on that next week.
stevenage are the only team wuith max points and there are 5 teams on seven points.

full set of fixtures on Tuesday evening and i may go watch Stockport take on Bradford at Edgeley Park- we shall see.
Ive picked two away teams out for an interest from a betting perspective as follows:
STEVENAGE at 2/1 at Port Vale look an amazing price. Only unbeaten team in the League with 3 wins playing a newly promoted team without a win.
BARNSLEY at 6/4 look a decent bet away at Peterborough. Peterborough lost 3 on the trot scoring 1 and conceding 6 . Barnsley 2 wins and a draw. Solid chance.
If u fancy a big price how about Wigan at 11/2 at Luton.. Luton are hot favs to win this league but im not so sure. They lost at the weekend to newly promoted Bradford and Wigan have made a good start with 2 wins out of three. small bet on this chancy one.
CARDIFF worth a look at also away at Wimbledon.
Gl and as always thoughts and comments are much appreciated.

well that was good. Stevenage, Barnsley and Cardiff all win . Had a treb and patent so very happy with that
Wigan gave Luton a good run for their money and wd have got something but for poor finishing.
Didnt go to Edgeley Park and Stockport again throw points away after being in a dominante position. They have to stop doing this oif they want to progress to the next level. Very disappointing. Bradford a team to keep an eye on. I have already backed them to win at Peterborough at the weekend.
Full details of weekends thoughts will be poste later in the week.

Stevenage look great value at 11/8 at home to an underperforming Wycombe.
Cardiff shd beat plymouth at 4/7.
Barnsley and Wigan shd be both interesting games home to local rival Huddersfield and Stockport respectivley - small bet on the away double.

Note Luton got in 3 forwards in last week plus Ali Al Hamadi on loan with an option to buy for £3 million if they go up. Fired in 7 goals in the last 2 games and set for a good run now. Topped up the AP with a bit more 3/1.
Only Cardiff in the way imho.

It couldnt be a score draw could it?

big game today in this league is Cardiff v Bradford first v second but with cardiff having a game in hand - both on 17 points.
Cardiff have won all 3 home games but against lowly opposition and a 97 min goal saved them at stockport last week from their first defeat.
Bradfords away form is not brilliant with two draws a defeat and a win at stockport.
No bet for me as this cd be anything. Cardiff at 1.9 look a tad short.
MY main bet in the League is STEVENAGE at 5/6 to beat Exeter
my only other bet in the league this weekend is BARNSLEY away at a strggling Blackpool at 31/20.
Bolton v wigan looks like a 1-1 draw and im hoping stockport can win away at rotherham.
KEY FACTS (who scored)
There have been under 2.5 goals scored in Northampton's last 6 games (League One).
Port Vale have seen over 2.5 goals in their last 6 home matches against Mansfield in all competitions.
lets see what happens

Nothing significantlty in this weekends fixtures stands out as a betting proposition. Im off to Edgeley Park tomorrow to watch Stockport take on Reading.
Stockport have been disappointing so far this season with only 4 wins in the 9 games played.
They have let good leads slip on too many occasions already wich is not a good sign as they cant close down games.Reading made a very poor start to the seaon but are on the improve with only 1 defeat in 5 away at Barnsley 3-2. This maybe a tougher game for Stockport than the betting suggests.
Cardiff are at Wigan who are unbeaten at home so it might not be that easy for them but ive taken a chance on them and backed them at 29/20.
Doncaster look to big at Luton at 15/4 so ive done them in a decent away treble with Stevenage 7/4 and Plymouth 13/8 (bit risky but a nice payout if it lands).
Bradford Barnsley and Mansfield look like home wins to me.
gl if you have a bet on any of the fixtures and as alwats comments and info greatly received.

Great results for Stevenage tonight. I'm starting to believe the impossible might be possible, for arguably the smallest club in the division, even though it's fair to say we've had some soft fixtures so far this season.
Stevenage FC has outlined its intention to remain stable but competitive within EFL League One this season – with increased playing budget and sustainable aspirations.
Starting its third year in League One, and after more than 25 years under the ownership of Phil Wallace, the club were one of the best performers for points-per-pound spent last season and increased commercial revenues to the highest in its history.
“More was spent on players in this league last season than the previous eight years put together, that shows the level we are competing at,” said Wallace.
The Club currently has its biggest ever shirt deal in Los Angeles-based video games company Xsolla and has taken over a fourth club-owned site to accommodate Stevenage FC Women and provide local sport and education facilities to the town - which itself is growing fast as part of £1 billion investment over the next 20 years.
"By working smart and very much together, we have overperformed where we ought to be in the league based on what we spend on playing budget. The town as a whole is really going places. For example, Stevenage is fast becoming the beating heart of the UK’s space and life sciences industries, where global science meets local innovation.
“Few towns can say they help build machines for Mars. Stevenage can - with the ExoMars Rover built right here by Airbus. We have built a football club that can go toe to toe with the likes of Luton Town, Cardiff City, Huddersfield Town and Plymouth on merit this season”.

Donny lost 3 on the bounce and home to Burton who beat cardiff at Cardiff in mid week. 4/1 given those facts might look big.
I have backed Lincoln to beat Exeter - see my thread for details.
Stevenage at 2/1 look big v Luton - see my thread for comments.
I watched Stockport v Reading last week and both teams look poor up front so i wouldnt be surprised to see both teams draw again.

Ive decided not to goto watch Stockport this weekend but hopefully they can beat blackpool. Its a no bet game for me as stockport look a tad short at 1.77 . I dont like betting against teams that have changed managers -so no bet for me.
My main bet this weekend is Northampton to beat Rotherham.
I have also backed Wimbeldon (7/4 looks a decent price foa team that has won 4 on the bounce) to beat Port Vale and Boalton to win at Burton.

Great win for Bolton at Huddersfield last night and happy with that as had a small interest bet on the away win.
Ive had an interest in PORT VALE at 9/5 (3 wins 2draws in last 5) to win at Wigan (lost 3 in 4).
BRADFORD 23/20 AND STOCKPORT 8/15 HOME Win double looks solid.
Lincoln (6th) v Stevenage (top) is fascinating but no idea who might prevail Stevenage are going great guns and are top but they have played every game apart from one v bottom half teams. the one they did play was huddersfield in 8th which they lost so im taking their current position with a degree of caution. Lincoln have a similiar profile with only 2 games v teams in top 10 with win loss and 1 draw - both away.. surprisingly lost to Exeter last week. Stevenage at 12/5 are surprisingly big imvho.
Burton in good form cd beat Peterborough ? no bet though.
Gl if you have any bets in this league

Bolton v Cardiff is a big game today. Top v 7th. Bolton 11/10 unbeaten at home with 4 wins and two draws. Cardiff unbeaten away at 13/5. Hard one to call - maybe a draw at 11/4.?
Another big one is Stevenage 2nd v Bradford 3rd. I fancy an away win here 2/1 based on Bradfords excellent form v top teams won 4/4 v top 8 and Stevenages poor form v the same lost 2/2 and that they have largely played lower table teams to date 8 at 11th and below. this is their first home game v top 10 team so shd be interesting.
I have had a TOO BIG on Nothampton 14/5 v Luton. Luton are in poor form with 4 losses 1 draw and a win in last 6.Bit risky as cobblers form is not brilliant but they have 5 wins in 9 so worth a small punt at that price.
Stockport 9/5 are in good form unbeaten in 6 with 4 wins and 2 draws so im hoping they can win at PORT Vale on Monday evening. Vales home form is poor with one win in 6 so 9/5 looks attractive.
No other bets for me in this league other than LINCOLN at 9/5 to win away at ORient who have lost 4 in 5. Lincoln only lost 1 in 10 with 6 wins in that period.
Reading shd beat an out of form Donny with basement dwellers playing each other Peterborough v Blackpool (Posh have the better form)
GL all and lets hope for a successful betting weekend.

That looks a good price about Lincoln who I think will win easily. I think I will have some of that too, The Dragon. So far I've only backed Middlesbrough and Fleetwood. After some thought I changed my mind about the L2 outfit who are unbeaten in the last 4 home matches. Good luck today.

My side (Bradford) are a good side this year dragon - but I fear the markets are catching on, making us same/shorter than the home side Stevenage today, given they are actually still above us and with home edge.
Course I hope we beat them, but not sure I could back at this price.

Bit of a driffy for your boys stu at mighty Stevenage. Perhaps the smallest team in the league in terms of history and support against one of biggest. Stevenage close to full strength and have their best squad ever (as seen by how well the 2nd string is doing in the EFL Trophy) Kemp is the playmaker, the other forwards work their socks off and the centre halves are the leaders. Normally used to a sea of changes over the Summer, but the club has managed to retain their better players lately. Always think the bubble is about to burst though.

Yes, your lot have done extremely well so far this season CB, as you say comparing the size of the club for this league level. But you've deserved those results so far, which is why I didn't underestimate them in betting today. I'm still hoping we can nick this one, as it would be a top result for us - hope you do well rest of the season though.

Bradford 4th v Lincoln 6th is tough to call with both teams in good form. Bradford are very strong at home with 5 wins and a draw. Lincolns away form is ok but they have not won away in the three games they have palyed againdst teams above 15 th posi.
HOME win for me at a decent price of 6/5.
Second game is Mansfield v Plymouth. Plymouth have had a funny season , terrible start followed by a good period and now have had 2 losses and a draw in the last 3 games. they have lost 4 out of 6 away games and all games to teams at the higher end of the league. Mansfield are currently 8th. Mansfield have lost 1 in 6 but have drawn 3 of them.their home form v teams 14th and below is 3/3. plymouth are 22nd.
Ive gone for a HOME win at 6/5.
Also done the home win double

Stockport had a chance to come back at 0-2, penalty saved. A third with a breakaway. How it goes sometimes.
Looks like JW is getting a bit of shape into the side, plenty of good players that needed some structure about their game. Three home games out of four against lower sides gives him an opportunity to go a bit further up the league. Hope so.

With the 0-0 home draw against Stevenage, Wigan Athletic shared the points, extending their unbeaten run to 5 matches in the league.

i have backed Peterborough to beat Port Vale this weekend at 11/5.
Hoping Stockport can win away at Mansfield as their away form is pretty decent only losing 2 in 9 with 5 wins. mansfield only won 1 in 7. 11/10 is a bit skinny mind

Thought I would bring this thread up for the 2026/27 season to continue the discussions around the league.
Leicester look very short to me at 11/5 on here and i think the league could be wide open. Ive taken some of 25/1 on Stockport which i thought was too big for a team beaten in the play offs.
Newcomers MKD also look too short and plymouth are deffo worth a look at 13.5 on here. Luton could go well after agreat finish to the last season but i was hoping for around 10/1 to be interested- they are 7.8 second favs on here.
Sheff Wed could be anything but one to keep an eye on

Sheffield Wednesday are well up there as second favourite's but although a Wednesday fan I would lay them at 5/2. They really are a poor bunch and the new players dont inspire. I have backed Huddersfield and Bradford as top Yorkshire team with bet 365. Must be one of them if Wednesday flop as I expect. Pays a bit better than evens.

Your guys got some good signings, Bannon and Barry and Mitchell, enough for topish finish this year surely, given some championship experience in there too from before?
Your guys got some good signings, Bannon and Barry and Mitchell, enough for topish finish this year surely, given some championship experience in there too from before?
Nope. Bannan is a good player but getting on a bit and needs good players around him for his excellent passing skills. Barry may be ok but the defence is a shambles and experience of the championship isnt much good if you were getting thrashed every week. The defence plays head tennis instead of passing out and like to boot the ball as far as they can. It invariably comes straight back. There are much hungrier teams about in league 1.

Fair enough, my main bet for this league this season is Burton relegation. I think they will struggle, but also could even have threats of points penalties to add to that.

My bets on Burton have been returned to me, but looked like whole market gone!

That shouldn't make any difference, the rule included points deductions as valid bets still I checked before. I'm on to CS and they are trying to now say my bets were not matched!! Totally not true.

Confirmed they voided the original market, due to being 'malformed' but are not able to provide any details as to what that means apparently.
I am not happy.

from the opening day fixtures im on Bradford to beat Peterborough at 1.7,and Blackpool to draw with wycombe at 3.40.
Plymouth v Stockport should be a good one - marginally interset on away win but no bet.
Oxford v MKD another interesting one with a relegated team v a promoted team lots of early noise that MKD could go well this season.
Noots co v Leicester is the same as above so agian of interest to see how both teams go in a higher and lowe league. I fancy leicester but they are a bit short?

Heard bit of Burton's manager earlier he sounded very downbeat about the squad. Tyreese shade? Subject of a few bids apparently someone has offered 1.5 million for him, they only have 6 subs today and he's not included. Could be a very long season for them.
