Sunderland have sacked head coach Michael Beale after just 12 games in charge, following back-to-back Championship defeats.

The 43-year-old was given a two-and-a-half year deal in December when he replaced the popular Tony Mowbray.

However, Beale lost six games during his short stint including a 3-0 home FA Cup defeat by rivals Newcastle United.

Recent defeats by Huddersfield and Birmingham have seen the Wearsiders slip to 10th in the table.

two and half year deal and sacked after 2 months

Just looking at the results, was expecting him to have about 5 pts to be axed so soon, but basically mid table form, 4 wins, 2 draws, 5 losses in league, 4pts off play offs

Why did they sack Mowbray and appoint this guy no one wanted in the first place Confused

Steve Bruce was Sunderland manager for 2 and a half years.

Since then, the club has had 14 'permanent' managers.

And not one of them has matched Brucie's longevity.

Hate managers getting sacked without getting a proper timescale to make the changes their mythology requires, however, Beale is a vile individual who has reaped what he sowed. Sunderland fans can breath again

Tobemory...Mowbray got sick of toeing the party line and when he came out and spoke against it they got rid of him Sad....gutted cos his football was fantastic and couldn't wait for the games to come around to watch.

This fella was a diabolical appointment and there was zero chance he was gonna be a success....the only surprise for me is they've admitted their balls up and canned him so soon..i thought he would last till the end of the season and they'd look for a new man then

I've seen nothing but stick from him from fans on social media since he started. And the clincher it seemed came at the weekend when he completely snubbed one of his own players. Lesson 1 in losing the dressing room?

Sunderlands owners getting what they deserve after the ridiculous sacking of Tony Mowbray who was doing a fine job, what next going forward hire another manager and sack him if a few results go against them.
