I don't think he should be, but was surprised I could back him @32 for next sacking after the Tottenham beating

I was thinking the owners will expect each season to be better than the previous one, and this seems unlikely now.

The owners came across as quite realistic about the long term vision in the documentary...

can't really blame Eddie with all the injuries that have restricted them to this point of the season..

that's not to say he gets a completely free pass this year but with no European games and plenty of players to come back they have a chance for a very decent PL run in the new year plus potential in the cups...

Howe has done great but it will be interesting to see how the fans react once they realise Bruno will be moving on.

The major issue for Howe long term is getting the attack clicking. At the moment their attack is workmanlike and effective to an extent.

An easy upgrade is to bin Almiron and get a right attacker who can use both feet. I'm not sure about Isak as a 9. He has terrible assist stats for a player who seems technically very good. The emergence of Miley and return next season of Tonali should see the end of Joelinton as a first teamer.

I don't expect him to be sacked but I do think he is closer to the sack than the fans maybe realise.

It was painful watching him (Almiron) tonight.  He had the defender one on one with loads of space at the byline at one point and choose yet again to turn back in and lay it off. Cannot remember him once getting to the by line and trying to make a cross etc.. Has absolutely zero ability with his right foot to pass or run with the ball. Howe seems infatuated with his work rate but Grealish has him right. Total headless chicken most of the time.

See this is where that nasty thing called realism kicks in. Howe has had plenty of backing and money to spend. Hes done brilliant getting them into the Champions League but they are majority owned by the wealthiest owners in world football. As SirNorbert has said, more is now expected and Howe will have to produce or be shown the door.

Its staggering reading Newcastle forums tonight claiming Bruno had a good game. Even Livescore are calling him (and Almiron) out as poor tonight and losing the ball/ being out of position far too often.

Interesting stat about Almiron....right winger and he has 6 PL assists in 160 games......

Possibly but nothing yet to suggest the owners are as cut throat (Laugh) as eg Abramovich.
They could be playing the longer game looking to establish themselves as part of a top 6/7 so that they are in the mix for any breakaway league.
They certainly aren't spending the way Roman and the City owners did when they wanted trophies at all costs. Arsenal and Chelsea have comfortably outspent them.
Just as likely they will back him with more cash than get rid imo. He has done very well and surely built up some trust. It was a horrible group to get out of esp for a team so inexperienced in europe.

Howe imho is a top grade coach. Theres plenty more at the club who deserve flack before he does but I fear for his position given the upcoming fixtures.

Ashworth deserves questioning. The transfer window last summer was a total disaster. For a club in Newcastles position, at a total minimum 2 players should be brought in each window who should be first teamers. Last season it was 1 in Tonali now banned long term and the rest were subs or long term prospects. They were crying out a right winger.

I get the waft of bluffer off Ashworth. An FA head who got plaudits for his time at Brighton despite the fact Tony Bloom runs everything at that club recruitment wise.

Agreed ^ but some very worrying aspects to that game though.

For the first goal there was no midfielders anywhere near the play once they got into the final 3rd.

For the 2nd goal, Guimaraes (Who gets a pass in every game by the fans) made no effort to track back and assist the defence. He was literally jogging and was a total disgrace. He was ahead of Elanga before the play started. He is massively over rated imho

I'd bin every player at that club before i'd bin Howe but that type of decision doesn't happen in the modern game.

Yeah, agree with some of what dambuster says but that's not what the owners give a fook about and the geography has nothing whatsover to do with it otherwise no fooker would be going to Saudi to play, once the pounds start to fly then you will see players arriving, Howe is a dead man walking and has been ever since he walked in the door what's more he knew it.

If Newcastle weren't in such a perilous spot he wouldn't have even got the job in the first place, he was only ever keeping the seat warm for a galactico ad that is how it will go, someone like a Conte will be next through the door, just a matter of time, the owners will be thinking, about bloody time too.

As for Howe, he's done himself a lot of favours and put himself back into the shop window, if he went before ETH I wouldn't rule out Radcliffe snapping him up.

Newcastle have overperformed with a small squad,

we will know Howe's fate in weeks, through the support he either gets or doesn't in the transfer market. if as Duffy says, he is a dead man walking, he will get token small signings and late failed bids.

However let's be real, there are very few who could have achieved the instant impact he did on arrival, so don't get over-enamored by foreign mercenaries carrying false hope.

Howe could do a really good job if backed. (In my opinion)

Agreed, we all think that, football people think that, but the owners want to be noticed, they are not football purists, Newcastle is just the latest in a long line of sports vehicles being used to promote themselves and when they all sat down around the table at the beginning of their reign and discussed who was the one man that they needed to steer the ship and be the figurehead of the club that would make all the eyes look to the North East, no way did they think that it was Eddie Howe.

Agree, and they're staying patient with him, despite wasting £65m On Havertz, who we all knew was a dud.

Surely its not up to Howe to be doing due diligence. IMHO that would fall at Dan Ashworths door.

Ashworths Head of Physio appointment has left the club after only 15 months and paternity leave. I would expect this is linked to Sven Botmans ACL injury not being picked up and him playing 2 games worsening the injury.

Ashworths reputation is massively over rated and he gives me the waft of an "FA Head" bluffer. Tony Bloom rules the roost at Brighton so any recruitment success wouldn't be lain at Ashworths door imho and beyond that I see little real achievement.

I expect Ashworth will leave before Howe.

I know from experience here that Liverpool really go deep on the personality of players to root out any dickheads before they're signed. Seems perfectly normal to me. Much more mad to be chucking tens of millions at someone and for it to fall apart in the way that it has. Tonali was at AC Milan for 3 years, a Serie A winner, 15 caps for Italy - and no one invloved with those clubs knew anything about his gambling habit, or at the very least no one is owning up to knowing about it.
