I dont understand why there is delays on markets where there is no suspension in betting when goals and red cards occur. I dont see the point in those delays.

Anyone else with same point of view?

That's the whole point is it not?  If the market is unmanaged, then if there is a bet delay, you at least have the chance during the delay to cancel your open bets before someone has the chance to sweep you?

The problem is with befair i think, and its happening with all markets.delay and suspensions all over the site.

Now i may be wrong but i  think it has something to do with quantum metrics.a delay is causing people to get information before betfair.Betfir must be running their system through twitter or chrome and it causing a delay.even talksport have goals quicker than befair at the momentShocked

that's the theory...with typical tv pictures now 10 to 11 secs behind live and digital radio at least 3 or 4 secs...it just gives a false sense of protection..

been debated on these forums a lot over the years including whether no delay would actually be better than a 5 second one that offers no actual protection from 'coutsiders' etc...

I had an old medium/longwave world radio
that I could use to pick up Spanish footy.

It was 25-30 seconds ahead of sky, and folk
were wondering how people could beat 10 second delay.

At Durham cricket it's usually 6-8 seconds between
live and watching sky live on club tv.

But I've seen it 28 seconds behind live, so tv was showing
a ball and a half behind live... Ha ha,

Can't get signal at sjp, but you see folk
beside hospitality turn to watch replay on tv.

Scoreboard pics are a second or so behind live.

The potential benefit of the zero or 1 sec delay especially in say football, tennis, cricket, snooker is that there is more opportunity to get in and matched without being at risk of getting picked off...once it's 5 and you're 11 secs behind there are much fewer moments you can safely get involved...

at 25-30 secs you're pretty much screwed regardless which is why the potential of more rights going to streaming is s a bit concerning....

Some of the cricket from Asia has definitely been as much as 12-13 on sky/bt etc ..meaning every time Jadeja bowled you couldn't trade during his over (unless willing to risk getting picked off)

There was a debate on golf forum years ago
about unmanaged markets and bet delays.

But it's pretty much determined by what the big boys want.

Golf shots can be 2 minutes behind live whilst feature groups
tend to be 20secs or so, there have been varying
sources of faster streams, online on course tracking,
but there's always somebody ahead, even if it's not
guaranteed to always be same folk.

Then you have all the ad breaks on sky, so the
old raw feed was great.

When radio 5 does majors and ryder cup its
very much up to speed, especially if you do
non digital.

Bbc used to show live golf from masters
which was 2 mins or so behind at start but they
caught up so nearly live at end of days play
taking out many ad breaks along the way.

World snooker used to be live but frame and a half
behind live in the 80s,we used to bet on next frame at golf club
losers got drinks in, when they pished off to bar
we put ceefax on to find out who won next frame..

yep analogue radio still viable a lot of the time about a sec I reckoned for cricket - but that's on borrowed time...

Test Match Special is digital only from here on in..and MW I think is either underway in a gradual shut down or soon to be underway..

was at least 4 and probably 5 secs behind true live for the recent cricket world cup (5 live extra)  which  makes leaving anything up dangerous..

They supply commentary at ground, that's got to
be live, so must be staying, I guess.

And snooker does live commentary at venue which appears live
by reactions to jokes etc.
