Joey has a point, but he has no idea how to put it across. Piers Morgan tied him up in knots, but it did show something, that the women did not have the decency to let one person speak, where as Joey, to his credit, did. At several points during that interview all three were speaking at once, which was a very hard watch.

Piers also brought up some good points, as have some on this thread; if commentators can commentate without playing a game AND we too can have opinions on the game, then why not women? They watch the men's game too.

Joey's only point, for me, is that a lot of this is because of the current agendas in society, but he is out of his league trying to put it across... leave it to the experts Joey

The day a woman is employed by a top club and is played in Champions League matches by men I will take their game seriously.
And that is obviously going to be never.
I love women,  I think they are fantastic, and have done all my life.  I do not however rate the level of their football or the hysteria which it generates.
Their football, at best, is third rate.  No matter how much money their games take in or how many spectators pay to watch it.

Same as woman in any sport, because men have

Pundits are like commentators - not fundamentally required.  The moving pictures are all I need and, if necessary, a comment from time to time as to what is going on and why.  As for the football I can see, read and evaluate that for myself.  As can most of us.

Passing on that in interesting form is good.

So much better being at game than watching on tv.

The pundits and co commentators should be helping
close that gap with useful comment and insight.

Joey Barton was an excellent footballer, off the pitch a nutter, but on it he was very good, anyone who says otherwise is an idiot.

His views are his views and should be respected, he's only repeating what millions of men (and honest women) say every weekend! Womens football is rubbish, even women dont want to watch it, its not yet reached the standard of under 15 school boys. That is the truth, if you think otherwise then thats your prerogative, but you need to open your eyes and see reality. Yes, I'm sure that it will improve in years to come, it needs to, but at this present time, its rubbish.
