This is usually a shyte game. Don't think I've ever seen a decent game between these two.  It pales in comparison to the North London Derby.

I will not be watching. 1-0 FT (Salah 39 mins) and an Everton red card.

They did have a good game in the cup semi final at Maine road and the hillsborough final was good but other than that yep pretty crap.

You have obviously never watched any of the following:

Stoke v Port Vale

Bham v WBA

Boro v Sunderland

Burnley v Blackburn

Barnsley v Rotherham

Why are Referees allowed to make decisions and never have to explain them?

Why was Konate not booked for deliberately stopping a counter attack?

If the handball really was a penalty why was Michael Keane not booked?

Had no bets on this game at all, 11kv. Sounds like it was yet another drab, insipid Merseyside derby.

Report PorcupineorPineapple October 21, 2023 5:30 PM BST
Both yellows for Young were right. Both cynical attempts to stop an attacker. Penalty was also an obvious one. Have to wonder why it needed VAR to make the ref see it. But Everton have a shout that Tsmikas should have been booked and Konate could have been given a second yellow on another day.

Though I don't think 10 v 10 would have seen Everton change their shape or mentality one jot.
Report The Dragon October 21, 2023 5:39 PM BST
usual garbage from the toffee noses
Report punchestown October 21, 2023 6:11 PM BST
Neutral view:The Ref applied common sense to the Konate foul but not to Young, that's the problem with common sense these days as it's not very common.
Report SirNorbertClarke October 21, 2023 6:13 PM BST
The handball law is crap.

If an accidental handball (ball to hand) is a penalty then why isn't deliberate holding at corners?

If Young deserved 2 yellows then so did Konate.
Report rothko October 21, 2023 6:18 PM BST
I suppose based on the 2 yellows that Jota got against spurs the Konate was a defo second yellow

but its like russian roulette with the refs there is no consistency
Report PorcupineorPineapple October 21, 2023 6:22 PM BST
Konate was probably saved by being so far from his own goal. Not sure why there's any discussion on handball. The lad had his arm out at ninety degrees in the box. As clear a handball as you can ever see. Every other defender knows you have to keep your arms in tight but he decided that was a bit dull.
Report rothko October 21, 2023 6:24 PM BST
yes the hand ball was a cast iron pen
Report rothko October 21, 2023 6:29 PM BST
i suppose the OP should have been Ive never seen any good 12.30 kick offs after the international break
Report rothko October 21, 2023 6:34 PM BST
The visit of Everton on October 21 is Klopp’s 13th Saturday lunchtime kick-off in the Premier League immediately after an international break, which is more than double the amount of the next club.

away to man city for the next one
Report scandanavian_haven October 21, 2023 6:37 PM BST
it's good that Liverpool are back in business, it means City will have a challenger, just watched Arsenal pass sideways and around Chelsea's defence for 45 minutes, you watch Liverpool and they're far more direct, only have to look at Klopp's record against Pep compared to Arteta's
Report SirNorbertClarke October 21, 2023 6:46 PM BST

He was moving at speed.

If you'd ever played a physical sport you'd know that arms pay a irreplaceable part in balance.
Report PorcupineorPineapple October 21, 2023 6:50 PM BST
If you have your arm out and the ball strikes it then it's probably a pen. Been that way for years. No one to blame but himself.
Report SirNorbertClarke October 21, 2023 7:07 PM BST
Keane's arm was in a natural position for someone moving at speed trying to stop.

Had he been rooted to the spot I would agree with you.

Report 1st time poster October 21, 2023 7:34 PM BST
handball has to be deliberate or used to be and deliberate handball is a yellow card but none of these pens for handball are yellow cards

Harsh and wouldn't have been given back in the day, but in today's game it is, hence why most players hold their hands behind their backs. SNC having a moment.
