Gallagher did a great job at S.P. T.D. and he was voted, quite rightly, our player of the season. We don't have Wilf Zaha now as he has signed for Galatasary and Olise is on people's shopping list I believe so coming to Palace isn't really that attractive a  proposition I wouldn't have thought.

Add to that a chairman who is happy to finish 11th or 12th, and a 75 year old manager, it doesn't exactly inspire confidence.

I think Palace has a huge catchment area and should be a giant but do you seriously expect them to be in European contention? Beware what you wish for! Well done to Brighton for their model but how long will it last? Remember Alan Curbishley the man who took Charlton as far as he could and the fans needed a manager to take them to the next level, which, for them was 4th tier!

I watched The Team of the 80's at Gillingham in the old 3rd or 4th ( can't remember which )!

They're worth the price anyone is willing to pay as that's the way it works nowadays.

we can think a club got a bargain, paid fair value

Palace and Gallagher would not be a good fit second time round as I doubt Woy would allow him the freedom he needs to play his best football which is to play without any direct responsibility which is why he excelled first time round as he was given licence to roam and his raw enthusiasm and aggression drove him to become a useful team player as he was out to prove a point.
The player I saw in a Chelsea shirt last season did not have the same buzz in him, if he stays with Chelsea it will be interesting to see how Poch chooses to use him, the lad is definitely a talent and maybe was overawed by making the Chelsea first team because of the names he was playing alongside whereas at Palace there were less high profile characters and he was able to establish himself much easier.
We certainly got the best out of him and I would love him to hit those heights again wherever he ends up playing this season as he is very likeable and will I hope establish himself as a regular for club and country.

Zaha reportedly signed a 3 year deal with Gala for 2m up front and about 75k a week. That can't be right surely? Or is he in desperate need of cash up front? He was on about 130k a week at Palace.

Fancy Chelsea would be foolish to sell Gallagher unless it's for stupid money, lad as his best years in front of him and they are a bit light in midfield... now if anyone wants Marc Cucurella they welcome to him, another one of Tommy Tuchel's donkeys..

They'd have offloaded Gallagher this summer or next if it wasn't for the Saudis helping them offload other deadwood like Mendy and Koulibaly, possibly ziyech too. They also got good fees for Havertz and Mount, who, like Gallagher, would generate 100% profit as he cost them nothing, which is booked in the current season and helps balance the books this FFP period for all the new players they have to account for. Selling a guy like Cucurella would not be smart as that would crystallise a big loss for FFP this period and cause them even more problems. They are overextended for FFP which is why they are giving 8 year deals to spread the massive cost over a longer period. Losing their CL money the coming year only makes it worse.

I think Gallagher is better than a lot of the players they have signed recently but they can't sell them for a few years for the same reason as Cucurella and will be stuck with them, while zero cost players like Gallagher and Mount will be sold off before them, at least one a year to help balance the books over the next few FFP periods.
