Report Des Pond March 10, 2023 6:36 PM GMT
I take your point about how boring many of the pundits are. Steven Warnock is another, so long-winded and dull that he's almost impossible to listen to. I guess I've got to the stage where I don't want to hear presenters or pundits at all. They add little or nothing of any value as far as I'm concerned. MOTD should show far more of the action, and less of these overpaid tw@ts, and their "expert contributions"
Report mesmerised March 10, 2023 6:41 PM GMT
and how do you know that exactly KIW ?

if Wright was a bore who offered nothing then your point may seem plausible, but he is the opposite of wooden, has a personality, is clearly authentic and has good banter with the likes of Shearer. He's self made and comes from nothing working on building sites and whatnot so making him look guilty for not needing food banks is stupid. His wealth came from football, license fee money hasn't enriched him and whatever the BBC pay him is chickenfeed to what he earned as a player.

I suppose this is a prime example of what separates us from The Russian or Chinese model of freedom of speech.
In either of these regimes if you speak out about and criticise the ruling elite and their shocking standards you lose your liberty, over here you just lose your livelihood.
The significant thing here is that Lineker was supposedly right to stand out against the lgbt+trannys rule bowlucks at the World Cup and go on about it ad infinitum but wrong to voice an opinion on the British approach to small boats - where people die.
What a lovely world we are creating.

The football is what people want to see and that stays the same no matter who is or isn't presenting.  Lineker, or indeed any presenter, brings nothing to the programme.  People don't tune in to hear a pundit's opinion; they just want to see the match action.  Why the BBC feel the need to hold on to Lineker at a salary way above what others at the corporation earn is a mystery.  Ken Bruce was pulling in over 8 million listeners yet Lineker's being paid nearly a million more.  For what?  To say Hello, welcome to MOTD.  Here's the game.  Wasn't that a good goal?  AI could do that.
