For accusing ministers of "demonising rail workers, ambulance workers  and terrifyingly, nurses". He also said "bad working conditions should not be accepted in Qatar or any region".

What utter sh1t!!! How the heck can he compare the above with Qatar?? No wonder it's been long known and accepted most footballers are a sandwich short of a picnic...even in comparison to rugby players or cricketers.  And, his latest comment outside football clearly cements the public perception.

How would government ministers like a 3 year pay freeze followed by an offer of 3% subject to a 20% staff cull and compulsory week long night shifts?

No I thought not.

he's a champagne socialist, speaking up on socialists issues, which is generally a good thing, is a way in which in his own mind he's a) deflecting attention away from his hypocrisy of cashing in from the Qatari state, a state that he had before hand criticised mercilessly, and b) lessens the guilt he feels about being rich and comfortable in times of a cost of living crisis, thus he over eggs the pudding and over compensates by going in hard on the Tories, again, though being from Manchester you are indoctrinated to be anti Tory anyway so no matter what they do they are the bad guys, Liverpudlians the same, having said that the way they've run the country in recent times, they deserve to be cained, but don't let that mantra fool you, he is strictly on a PR and damage limitation exercise and using his background as cover.

Kind Regards.

Should be sacked by ITV and SKY. He is employed as a football pundit(which some may say is a joke in itself) and not as a mouthpiece for the Labour party. Stand for election and get off our screens.

If he'd said anything anti-woke or right of centre, he'd be off our screens for yonks.

Massive double standards with mainstream media.

These champagne multi millionaire socialists like Neville and Lineker who have never done a proper days work in their spoilt lives really get on my wick. Neville banging on about the poor as if he knows something about it, wonder how much he charges for his hotel rooms?

A couple of my friends who work in the NHS - a senior nurse and a junior doctor - both benefited on a massive discount during the pandemic eg a 40% discount on their new cars - a Volvo XC90 and Yaris Hybrid. Both had spells of Covid yet they did not complain.

Why does it need someone like Mr Neville to speak on their behalf? Someone who does not know the time of day or living from day to day on one pay cheque.

An ITV spokesman said: "Gary Neville was expressing his own personal views in the context of a discussion about treatment of workers in Qatar within a live broadcast. His views are his own and were not endorsed by ITV."

Media regulator Ofcom confirmed it had received complaints on the subject but had not yet decided whether or not to investigate.

Mr Neville is not qualified to express such views on live tv ie comparing UK with Qatar. He's football pundit not political pundit. He's not someone who's studied Politics at Uni of any further education establishment. He's not even a local councillor.

But, he's a pillock!

Neville's got exactly the response he wanted and expected, the more his name is up in the lights for whatever reason the more beneficial for him and the gravy just gets thicker and thicker for him, can't stand him personally but he's here to stay.

Neville only came up with this rant as he knew it was the last match & it was a way to deflect from the roasting he got on Have I Got News For You about his hypocrisy for taking Qatari money.

It is possible to be critical of both Neville & the govt simultaneously.

That is true Wesdag but when someone like Gary Neville speaks out it seems to annoy people more than someone like Michelle Mone who has stuffed the country when we were in a health crisis and pissed of into the Sunset with a huge profit for supplying substandard PPE.

I don't think anyone would criticise GN if he went on Question Time & said what he said.

It was the fact that he ran his mouth off on a footy programme without any pushback.

is gary willing to take a pay cut at ITV and SKY and give his decrease to the people who clean the studios, provide the security and work in the canteen?.......these would be the lowest paid workers at ITV and SKY.......the only way for them to get higher pay is for the highest paid people at SKY/ITV - he would be one of them - to get a decrease.........it would be great if someone would put this to him on live TV.

Used to despise Neville when he played for Man Utd for obvious reasons. Gained respect for him when he wouldn't agree to pay off a policeman (Giggs np) in that stupid prank show Ferdinand created. But always like Neville as a footie pundit. Champagne socialists should stay out of politics though; but agree Hislops hypocrisy rant about Qatar on HIGNFY must have wounded him.

compare him to media darlings kay and hartley brewer, kicking the unions daily then jetting off on safari and usa.wheres the difference

Must see this rant.  Hislop has more brains in his top lip than Neville has in his head - that;s for sure.
As for champagne socialists staying out of politics I agree that all politicians and so-called social commenters should stay out of sport.  All sport.
And how did a member of a team win the individual SPOTY award.

his judgement and choice is very suspect  - but then who would get in the way of making money
