England are apparently unchanged, so Foden and Saka flanking Harry Kane in attack, with Henderson in midfield alongside Rice. France have reached the quarter-finals last three world cups and normally qualify for next round against UEFA nations. England are not conceding many goals, France always seem to concede but have a nine match world cup winning streak when Mbappe starts. Still deciding if I am going to the pub which will be good for my nerves I suppose or watching it with a mate around his house with pizza delivery (he does get very stressed watching England).
My gut feeling is England must start well and not be to negative if they manage to get ahead in the game. Starting slowly like they did agaisnt USA and then Senegal would be a problem. Assuming that doesn't happen it is 50/50 who might score first (if its France it will be all over) and then 50/50 England blow a lead by playing negatively. Be delighted if England can deliver, but my brain says France at the respective prices. 1.83 France qualify and 2:1 France.

I wouldn't put kane up front in a big game like this, but we ain't got much choice, rhave rashers an Stirling should have started to at least bolster Kane and put them in front of goal for him but we will see, few option, where's Vardy

Kane has become the chief goal maker rather than scorer. Plenty of the England team can shoot straight which is more than most teams can say. Portugal were hopeless. It is all about the final ball and Kane is great at that. Meanwhile Mbappe can score from anywhere so the priority is to stop him getting the ball.

Patriotic punting has the England win almost the same price as France ....it wasn't a few days ago.
Both teams know they will thrash Morocco ....neither play the endless , pointless pass for passing sake ,that Portugal and Spain play to tedium. I get the feeling the team are growing in confidence and see Messi and Co as the obstacle to being world champions ,not France . |
