in the euphoric moment of scoring a winner in football, you take leave of your senses, for whatever reason players always feel the urge to take their shirt off, the rule is only in place because of sponsors, needs changing.

What goes through their mind when they score?  No matter what I must take my shirt off.  Sheer madness.

doesn't matter what the reason is, the point is that all over the world, football players feel that urge, it's obviously natural and not pre meditated, so the rule needs changing, it's dumb.

There must have been something wrong with footballers in the past when they scored and left their shirts on.

it's a reflex not a reaction, if I poured boiling water on your hand when you were looking away, you'd move your hand away before you ever knew hot water had been poured on it, same as scoring a goal, players take their shirt off when they score a goal as it's a reflex for whatever psychological reasoning, it's only when they've come down from that climax do they have a head in hands moment. Nobody is offended about shirts being taken off, it's there merely for sponsorship reasons.

I don't think Brazil cared who went through with them. Same as portugal Once they qualify they are looking ahead to the next round. They do have a pretty ropey forward line, though. I'll give you that. Although their defence is better than in the past, and they have a proper keeper.

You have a point about Brazil. Richarlison and Jesus are not top drawer strikers, and scoring is never going to be easy for them. I've still got a decent green on Brazil, but they are short enough. Argentina and  France have easier last 16 opponents. So, there is room for them to shorten in the outright. Spain and Portugal have tougher ties, imo.
I think I'll have a few bob on Switzerland v Portugal. They have a great team spirit, and their coach seems to know what to do when the game is starting to go against them.

Lol they had a 39 yo start at right back and they were weaker in goal, defence, midfield, attack. There's a big difference. Same with any team who plays their second string. The players aren't used to playing together either.

They didn't have to win or score tonight and played their second string. I would read more into the first halves of their first two games when they weren't great.

Argentina do not look strong enough from front to back to make the final, it's Brazil in the final, and I'd probably plump for France at this point having seen every team, initially they looked beatable to me but not as overly enamoured with Spain as everyone else is. Repeat of the 1998 final. Ronaldo will be there again, this time in the stands, 20 stone heavier, him am Carlos a couple of proper bloaters, almost unrecognisable. Though I think R9 has a medical issue.
