Despite every headline only mentioning his time at Rangers , Andy was first team goalkeeper at Oldham as a teenager , he played more league games for us than any other club ....and his skills were honed in a struggling second tier club.
I saw almost every game he played for us and he was a superstar and I was delighted to see him reap the trophies he deserved at Rangers.
RIP Andy , you will never be forgotten at Boundary Park.
The late Tommy Burns, when he was the Celtic manager, said "Put it on my tombstone - Andy Goram broke my heart."
Once a Ger always a Ger. RIP Andy.

Expected but still very hard to take in. Aka will remember the likes of Billy Ritchie, Norrie Martin, Peter McCloy, Gerry Neef, Chris Woods etc.
That said, Andy was different class. RIP Andy.
Nice write up from sixtwosix although I never knew he played more games for Oldham than Rangers.

good thread lads to a magnificent goalie, never knew he scored for hibs, was it a shoot out ? or kick out ? as I said on other thread, he was great with ball at his feet, way above these new modern goalies, plus he could also stop shots, unlike some nowadays earning fortunes

We had a great goalie at Aberdeen, Jim Leighton but Goram was incredible for a wee man. A brilliant goalie who I loved watching.
Great quote that from T Burns.
Rest In Peace.

Spent some time with Andy when he was playing for Oldham he was great company and an all round good person, the last time I saw him was at the airport he was going on tour and whilst not absolutely certain I think it was a cricket tour he was talented at quite a few sports,he left his team to spend half an hour or so having a quick drink and chat with me,in the short time I knew Andy I realised he really lived life.
God bless him and take care f him

Andy Goram, Tommy Burns, Davy Cooper, Walter Smith Phil O'Donnell, Lorenzo Amoruso Mo Johnstone, and many many more gone far to soon.
We get so worked up about a game of football and that's all it is at the end of the day.

Spluttered my coffee when I read that G Hall re Lorenzo Amoruso. He was at Ibrox quite recently, as for Mo he's 60 next year (in case you want to send him a card) and resident in Florida.

that's not true what he says, what is true is Mo Johnston had agreed terms with Rangers when he went and supported Celtic when they won Scottish Cup final in 1989, but it was a very late development. Andy Goram didn't play for rangers then , I'm 90% sure Woods was the goalie, might be wrong.
Mo told a Celtic player at the PFA dinner on the following night, who was astonished, and thats when people in the game knew.
His family still blame Celtic for the last minute fcuck up, not him, and maintain he wanted to go back to Celtic.

just checked it Rangers team that day was. Woods Stevens Butcher Gough Munro Sterland Ferguson (Ian), Brown Walters, Drinkell, McCoist subs Souness, Cooper.
I'd be surprised if Andy Goram even knew mccoist back then

i,m sure andy goram was a friend of most of rangers squad, as he was a brilliant goalie and won then a lot of matches or contributed significantly to wins.

MALAY^^ Hibs were at home to Morton in the league match. Goram had the ball in his hands at the Dunbar End (away end) and belted the ball into the other half. One of those 'hoofs' that was going to bounce just outside the box.....David Wylie came forward expecting it to bounce into his hands but the ball bounced over his head and into the net. Sadly no footage of this exists. There was also a penalty shoot out v Clydebank at Easter Road midweek one time where it was all square and Hibs had a penalty left and we wondered who would be taking it....up steps Andy and scores the winner. AG always had more to do as a goalie when playing for Oldham and Hibs and both clubs can rightly say they saw the best of him in action due to the more saves he was bound to make behind weaker defences. RIP Andy Goram - the best goalie I have ever seen playing for Hibs.

Oops sorry Was watching an item about Andy and saw this in the list Goalkeeper scores freak goal for Hibs.
Was logging off and just captured vid address and posted. In all my years following Rangers I've never seen that. Incredible that it happened twice with Hibs and a bit of a coincidence that both keepers last clubs before joining Hibs was Oldham.
