love how everyone's writing Madrid off, would have to go down as the greatest Champions League title ever won, beat the Italian champions twice in the group stages, them the French Champions, then the European Champions, then the English champions and then Liverpool who've been one of the best teams in Europe for the last 5 years. Have a feeling this'll be Vincius's final. Nothing personal against Liverpool but the sheer amount of cocksure Liverpool fans on Radio would make it amusing to see them come up short, even heard one say they're playing for 3 trophies tomorrow night, as the Super Cup and World Club cup would be sure things.  If Liverpool win then they've had a better season than Man City.

Liverpool 0-1 Real Madrid

Real Madrid have had one of the toughest ever Champions League runs.

They played Paris St-Germain in the last 16, and last season's two finalists - Chelsea and Manchester City - in the next two rounds.

They came from behind against PSG, and Chelsea, and City.

And now they have beaten Liverpool in the final.

People blaming Alisson for the goal haven't a clue. He was covering the near post in the right position. It was a brilliant ball, Trent should have been nearer to Vini but prob wouldn't have cut it out if he was. It was really a ball the CHs should have cut out. Konate stepped up to play offside, if he hadn't he'd have stopped it. VVD also playing his usual positional/passve defending instead of going to the ball/Valverde. Robertson not even in the tv picture. They were all more at fault than Trent or the keeper. Teh ball should never have made it to the far post.

I think UK football fans have been told so often, by pundits and commentators that Liverpool and Man City are light years ahaead of the rest of Europe, that they have come to believe it. Real madrid have shown the UK biased media that it's simply not true. Real had a good game plan and executed it perfectly. In truth, it wasn't hard for them to win. Mane was atrocious. Has to be asked was it necessary for so much talk re his next contract on the week of this game? So one finalist out of six in the European finals and no winner for the best league in the world with all the money. Something for the usual media/pundits to ponder on before their next sermon on the EPL.

Hoping that Liverpool would win the game however theres not many teams that prevent Liverpool from scoring and Real Madrid did just that to add to Liverpools very few blanks this season twice v Chelsea in domestic cups, against Arsenal in 1 leg of the league cup semi final and the only time in the Premier league against Leicester.

It must be worrying that a team has failed to score in 3 Cup finals this season two of them after 120 kindles and to be honest if last nights game was 0-0 after 90 minutes then it was difficult to envisage them scoring in extra time as well.

It appeared appropriate me at least after about 65 minutes that they would not score as Des said it was quite easy for real Madrid.

Its funny. Talking football philosophy.
Real had to deal with the original and best Guardiola team, the Barca of 2008-2012.
Spanish teams came out of that era and not many teams in La Liga play the hi press, high defensive line.
Wheras Pep goes off to the Bundesliga and virtually every German team plays that way.
And now he comes to the EPL and from what I can make out every team in the top half of the english top division barring West Ham play a version of it.
Yet Spanish teams remain the best in Europe. They win UEFA tournaments every year. Wether its Villareal, Seville, Atletico or the Big 2.

You look at City and Liv and they only have one way of playing.
They dominate the EPL.
But the thing about League football is that at any given time half the teams are going to be in some sort of disarray, rebuilding, coming to the end of a managers run, aging players etc.
Factor in that our way of running VAR which seems to be outlawing any form of organised defensive football and its like Pep and Klopp are being given a free pass to win the league.
In Europe its a bit different.

To me, Real won like an old fashioned english team used to win. Stick and run, play on the counter, be organised.
Like what Joses Chelsea used to do, Fergus Utd and Rafa's Liv.

I know it sounds odd, but if those teams were around today, they would have the tactical versatilty to beat Pep and Klopp. Maybe not in the EPL which seems to be heading headlong into footballing NBA, but in ko competitions like the UCL there seems to still be a place for the defensive tactician.

Real Madrid have simply fed off of other teams mistakes and were completely outplayed for the majority of games in all 4 knockout rounds living on a wing and prayer for most of it, they even lost to a team in the groups at home that nobody had ever heard of, it's a run that will never happen again, they've walked off with La Liga because it's a weak era for the league. I bet they honestly can't believe their luck, the previous Madrid winners under Zidane were not lucky. They went into every tie as favorites apart from when they played Bayern in 2017.

Spain didn't just dominate European football during Pep's era and beyond but Spanish sport was also doing well, Dr. Fuentes, courts ordering blood bags to be destroyed, Barca players running around like Duracell bunny's in the 90th minute not breaking sweat, etc.

Unless they sign some marquee players they wont be doing much in Europe next year, prime Ronaldo, Bale, Marcelo and Ramos all gone or going, Hazard a crook, Modric probably leaving at 37, Kroos old. Wouldn't be surprised if they went years without their next European Cup, 2030 and beyond, it's only a matter of time before Man City and PSG start winning the Champions League.

For the record I have Klopp as pound for pound the best manager in the world, to spend within your means, to have consistently fantastic recruitment, to play entertaining football and nearly win everything in a single season is remarkable achievement, not to mention having already won everything anyway. Compare and contrast that without checkbook Pep, outspends everyone in England then bends down at the end of the year whilst Linekar and the like queue up to whip out their dusters and polish his bald head telling him how great his is. Would not do a better job at West Ham than Moyes, would just play differently. Kind Regards.
