Saw it and I feel for their fans because it’s them that will suffer

Chelsea to be replaced by Newcastle in the money table just wish my club had a sugar rich daddy as money talks and is the only reason why City and Chelsea have had so much success

His money will still be there as far as I can tell. Not putting it up for sale is he?

I suppose they get reality back and they did get to enjoy all the success, it’s probably gotten boring anyway

But they could let them go under we know how these lot operate ie the money guzzlers

They have the 4th highest revenues without Roman's money. Last year they won the CL, so will likely have 3rd highest. Once they are well run they will still be ahead of Spurs and Arsenal in terms of finance. The question is whether Roman will look for the £1.5bn of debt on their books owed to him and repayable upon 18 months' notice.

He hasn't gone , just put it under new ownership so it can't be taken away from him

Exactly, like signing over the house to the missus imo.

No mention of ownership, only 'stewardship'

Make no mistake over the course of time unless Chelsea find another extremely wealthy backer like Abramovich Chelsea will gradually decline

It has to be detrimental to the club .. any decline could happen quickly as well but others might disagree

a legal bod on twitter opined that the term stewardship has been 'deliberately chosen as it has no precise legal meaning at all', plenty of people falling for it though.

What you meant to say :
The question is whether Putin will look for the £1.5bn of debt on their books owed to him and repayable upon 18 months' notice.

IMO Abramovich can see the writing on the wall. He is finished in this country and is handing over the club as a gift.

No, that's not what I meant to say. He is not handing over anything. He hasn't even been sanctioned yet. Why would he give the club away for free if that's the worst case scenario for him anyway?

He will ride it out for as long as he can. He will not give the club away for free without getting his £1.5bn back and that can't happen if he is sanctioned. It might be taken off him but that's not giving it away for free.

Yeah but the club will be removed from that charity anyway trust me

They can try and get around the silly legal jargon but rule of law won’t exist soon so we’ll take back what is our and bypass all the stupid courts anyway

As Jollyswagman points out, he hasn't given anything away. He's trying to put some distance between himself and the club, but it means jack legally.  The fact is that the football club owes £1.5B to Abramovich's BVI company, Camberley International. If the govt plays hardball with him, he'll insist that the loan is paid back.

And the club is only considered a going concern because money is pumped into it by Abramovich's companies. If his assets get frozen that could cause serious problems. I imagine that means the Govt won't be going after him, but if they do then he can threaten to firebomb Chelsea!

He could but there is a proceeds of crime act I think. His daughter is causing him problems. Our Government can take it all away I believe. I doubt that will happen but I hope it does. Even if his intentions are noble he has stolen from the Russian people and tried to pedal influence with our Authorities. I support the destruction of the Klepto’s

just a very transparent attempt to protect his assets in Chelsea FC

presumably he'll stop pumping money into the club now and they'll go back to mid-table - or perhaps not

I should think that convicting Roman Abramovic under some international 'Proceeds of crime Act' would prove very difficult. Almost impossible.
As I understand the situation mr Abramovic made his fortune after the privatisation of Russian industry whilst Yeltsin was President.
This was done under advice and in actual fact by the West. And by that I mean US government officials.

It may be right to argue on a moral level that Abramovic stole his fortune from the Russian people but it was done under the auspices of the very western institutions which will have to bring the prosecution.
I doubt the US will want to open that can of worms.

PL clubs owned by some of the worst people in the world and not so much as a murmur from the fans as long as the money gets pumped in

We’ll see thelatarps,

He is a bag man for Putin, a favoured son. If it does go to court I do wonder if any Judge would be interested in any bung he migh5 offer like in his case with Berezovsky.

Any idea why he is not allowed to liv3 in the UK?

He is a Gangster and thief..

His assets need to be seized immediately including Chelski Football Cub and his £150 million mansion in London.

I doubt very much that he has "gone".  Are we meant to believe this in the same way that we were meant to believe that Russia had no intention of invading Ukraine?  Looks like an attempt to convince everyone not to sanction him and his assets because he is acting first.  Clever in a way but never a hope of working.

I'm with you Whispering.  Hit these bstards where it hurts and keep hurting them.
Each and every Russian investor in the UK should have all his assets sequestered and sanctioned.
And if they bleat send them into Ukraine to see how lucky they are compared to their brothers and sisters.
And if all these fcking wets which seem to populate and dominate our world these days complain about civil right violations fck them too.
Let's harden up and get a bit of spine back into our mentalities.
