When he played at SJP a week or so ago he made some nice runs, but they didn't pass to him.
He was getting very animated, and boiled over when he assaulted Fraser.
Something not right.

Well they did get Ronaldo on the cheap, but yes he's simply past his best. Lukaku was probably sold because of the sort of fit he's just had at chelski

he has scored 14 goals in 20 games. hes the only reason utd are in champions league knockouts.........everyone is assuming utd would be doing better if he wasnt there.......im not so sure. the problem with this season is our best player the last two years - bruno - has been poor.......maybe its cause of ronaldo.........i dont know but ronaldo is doing his job..........scoring and scoring way more than anyone else........i'd be tempted to sell rashford and greenwood.........i think they are overrated........sancho will come good.........at least he trys........not so sure about the other two.

I thought Bruno looked decent at SJP, whilst clearly not firing like he did last year.
Clearly something wrong in the camp.
Ronaldo goals have surely kept man utd on fringes of champs league qualification, and maybe problem is elsewhere.
We'll likely find out when agents open up.

racingqueen.......these pundits are all blaming the signing of ronny.......they forget that bruno, greenwood, rashford and sancho have been poor all season........everytime we lose or draw, ronny gets the blame.......then he rescues us and they call him the greatest player ever.......i dont get it..........14/20........looks pretty good to me. if portugal miss out on the world cup - which looks likely - i wonder will he pack it in at the end of this season...........this is his 20th......

Young players have been denied opportunities for much needed match time as they look to accommodate him in the 11
Oli planned a campaign for a team and suddenly they threw Ronaldo at him at the 23rd hour as the missing piece, unfortunately he fitted 15 years ago but its a different picture now
What happened when they dropped him? apparently they played as well as they have all season.....wonder why?
Brilliant Player but not one to built a team around now

I watched Newcastle decline, with shearer in team, set up to break record of newcastle goals scored, he even got an extra extra year to do it. Sold loads of shirts.
Ronaldo currently looks far more mobile than that shearer did.
But not same guy, who alongside Rooney, was a genius.

Its part of development to introduce young players. Those below fit the bill
Greenwood, Sancho, Chong, Van De Beek, McTominay, Garner, Hannibal, Elanga

Gave the club and all players a boost early on but it's quickly worn off.
Of course he's going to score goals - his entire career since Real has been all about him scoring as many as possible. Fine if he's scoring a goal a game and the team are top of the league or winning CLs - look at Benzema for Real now, a top class player happy to be a workhorse for him most of his career because he was winning.
Quoting goals numbers is silly - he was always going to get goals but he's not getting enough to warrant the attack being built around him any more. Doing that would normally have the team scoring more but they are socring less. He's not the player he was at Real or even Juve. At his age there is a significant decline every year and moving from Italy to the PL on top of that compounds it greatly.
United would be better off using him like Cavani last year. A guy you bring on if you need a goal, but he'd throw his toys if that were the case. Otherwise he will be top scorer but the team will suffer overall which is exactly what is happening. I doubt his ego and desire to win is helping in the dressing room either when a lot of players won't think he should even be starting.

They say love is blind, none more so than United fans failing to see just how much the return of their hero has unbalanced the United side. It's all very well pointing out how many goals he's scored, but what impact does he have on the game when he's not scoring ? It's pretty minimal to say the least. I was told at a very early age by our football coach that every second you're on the pitch you have a duty to the team. That just doesn't mean scoring goals, it means working hard for the team by making it difficult for the opposition. In today's game those wise words hold even more truth, that's unless you're name is Ronaldo apparently, who gets a free pass from doing horrible stuff like having to track back etc. For far too long now Manchester United have had to rely on individuals to get something out of a game. The signing of Ronaldo has simply compounded that problem.

Not Ronaldos fault he is surrounded by tripe. Greenwood , Rashford , Sancho , all hailed as the next best thing by the english media and utterly clueless. Wan Bissaka is another one. Luke Shaw , Jones , Maguire , not a single one knows how to position themselves in a defence.
Add in a manager with no real experience and three or four players that are poison and its a receipe for disaster. The United board have mismanaged the club to a terrible extent.

Lurka....."quoting goal numbers is silly".......... when teams look to sign strikers, are they going to look at his hairstyle.........seriously.......hes the 1st player to score 800 goals in the history of football.......all these theories about why he scored 450 goals over 9 seasons at real re benzema being his work horse......same crap about messi scoring goals only due to xavi and iniesta but when these two left. messi kept scoring 40-50 goals a season.........ronny goes to juve and gets 100 goals in 3 seasons......CARRYS THE TEAM.......they win 2 league titles.......moment he leaves and they are total rubbish.......same with messi at barca.......minute he leaves and barca collapse.......ronny has scored 14 goals this season.........cavani/greenwodd/sancho/bruno/rashford have 16 BETWEEN THEM.......only reason utd are in last 16 of champs league is because of his 6 goals in 5 games.......the world has gone mad.......
for the record, benzema scored 30/27/30 in the 3 seasons when ronny was at juve......theres a big diff between that and the 50 ronny averaged over 9 seasons........madrid won 4 champs leagues only because of ronny's incredible goal record in the knockout stages of the competition.........he will end this season with 30 goals and u guys on here will still criticise him....hes 37 in 4 weeks by the way.
the mistake ronny made was leaving real........portugal wont qualify for the world cup and he should retire........this is his 20th season...........LEGEND

He's 37 in a month. The common theme is that other top players don't produce as many goals when he is the focal point of the attack. That is the point I was making about Benzema, not that he is scoring as many as prime Ronaldo. Dybala was similar when Ronaldo was at Juve.
It's all well and good when he is getting a goal a game or close to that and the team is challenging for the big pots, which Real and Juve were. It is not OK when he is not scoring anywhere close to that rate and the others are producing less too. Then the team suffers and there is unrest in the dressing room, particularly from the other attackers.
He didn't 'carry the team' at Juve either. They were 7 in a row champions when he joined them and there was no noticeable increase in the amount of goals they scored after he joined, just that they weren't spread around as much, which confirms the point I'm making. In fact they scored more goals the season before he joined.
It was a given that he'd score goals and be top scorer and that other players wouldn't score as many as previously - again it's a common theme since he moved to Real. Reading into that or comparing his output to other united players is not insightful, it only confirms that he is the focal point of the attack, which you knew already.
You should be asking whether he is scoring enough to justify being the focal point of the attack at almost 37, which he was at both Juve and Real but clearly isn't at United. It's not all down to him of course but you only have to watch a few games to see how little else he does. Other than scoring he does next to nothing nowadays, so the question is a simple one of 'is he scoring enough' and he clearly isn't. If they'd played Cavani every game he'd prob have scored just as many and contributed a lot more other than that too. Cavani got 10 goals in 13 starts last season and looks to have a lot more energy than Ronaldo. Ronaldo simply doesn't have the legs or goalss to justify it at United.
