Market InformationFor further information please see Rules & Regs. Will Eddie Howe resign, be sacked, or otherwise leave his position as the manager of Newcastle FC before August 6th 2022?
This market will be settled using official information provided by Newcastle FC.

Should Eddie Howe leave their position on a temporary basis, and a new appointment be made as ‘interim’, ‘caretaker’, ‘temporary’ (including an appointment described as ‘to the end of the season’) or similar, this will not constitute as the manager leaving their position for the purposes of this market.

The actual reason for leaving the position will not be relevant for the purpose of this market.

I noticed this market at the weekend, there was 1.75 for £25 quid and I thought it would be rude not too.

Only way he goes surely would be for them to have a complete meltdown worse than Bruce.
Meltdown seems unlikely with new players coming in and his personality wouldn't make it likely either

Even if they get relegated, most of the blame lays with Bruce and he would cop very little flack

Depends if the Saudi's panic and call up Big Sam to save them from relegation if Howe has a poor start

He will get them going, a few signings in January and they’ll start picking wins, they do need to drop to far behind though before January
Report Latalomne November 27, 2021 7:22 PM GMT
It will be interesting to see who's actually prepared to join them in January.  Nobody who's any good is going to want to.  It's too early in the project for that.

Always admired the way Howe tries to play the game, but he's very naive tactically...
Report Crisp77 November 27, 2021 7:42 PM GMT
Also will any Premier League clubs want to sell to them? In all of their interests for Newcastle to be relegated.

I think Howe has been taken on for
a long term project.

There's no CEO yet, and no dof yet.

When these are in place things might
look different.

I really didn't see a need for this market
when it was put up.

better contacts but a lot less money to offer Cool
Report LoyalHoncho December 20, 2021 7:57 PM GMT
I keep saying it - the defence is a disaster, and it has been for months and months and months.  Howe has had how many games in charge?  Three, four, and he is still playing Ryan Fraser as a wing-left-back and he just doesn't have a clue.  The next time he gets himself goal-side of an opposing forward, in time, will be the first time this season.  And as for Clarke and Lascelles it is criminal how irrelevant they are.
And all Howe can do is suck the end of his pencil?!
I feel sorry for Newcastle fans, I really do.  But they brought it on themselves. They wanted Ashley out so he finally decided he'd had enough.  But in doing so he shut down spending so Bruce was left with the same modest bunch he ended last season with!.  By the time City will be able to field any new signings, such as they may turn out to be, it will be February.
Personally I think all is lost already.

Don't need much. A decent loan deal for the rest of the season would be £1-5 million per player with the option to buy if stay up.

Report Racingqueen December 20, 2021 9:13 PM GMT
So many questions over these signings

Take someone like Lingard or Martial.....if by some miracle they could attract them, they have pretty much sat on the bench all year. They could take 5-10 games to get up to speed.

What options do they have of players who do have game time.

Tripper and Tarkowski have it but its the attacking players they might get who don't and thats the area of the picth you do need it
Report SontaranStratagem December 20, 2021 9:54 PM GMT
Howe should be given another 6 weeks and if doesn’t improve then find someone else
Report SontaranStratagem December 20, 2021 9:58 PM GMT
All this he needs time rubbish, a professional set of coaches and manager doesnt need 5 years ffs

Take someone like Lingard or Martial..

Martial ....seriously ??  ... a sulky, inconsistent, self interested, not even that talented player on all known eveidence at this point...

Lingard maybe, has a decent attitude at least as he proved in his loan spell at WH last year...
Report LoyalHoncho December 21, 2021 8:08 PM GMT
I agree with you Sontaran.  A competent manager will have an immediate effect and then move on forward from there.  It is not hard to get players to do what they are good at and not try to be superstars. That's rule one.  The next is to tighten up defence and if that means not attacking as much as fans would like then so be it.  Confidence grows from players seeing that the manager knows what he is doing.  And Howe sucking the end of a pencil wondering that the fcuk to do next isn't it!
Report SontaranStratagem December 21, 2021 11:09 PM GMT
Thats where a good cop bad cop routine comes in handy

Peter Taylor was the real mastermind when it came to tactics and spotting the perfect player for the position needed, ie Derby fans always banging on about Colin “fooking” Todd, old but he was the final piece of that jigsaw to the top

But Brian was the charismatic one, the one who could motivate and get them believing

You need both in a set up as well as the coaches who need to be told what to do with the players as well

You get them motivated and believing in the system, themselves and the goal your there its simple

But to many overthink and analyse it’s annoying
Report SontaranStratagem December 21, 2021 11:13 PM GMT
Brian Clough and Peter Taylor once asked a player “what the fook were you doing” when he moved well out of position

To which he replied at his old club he was asked to do different roles

“Not here you dont, because you cant do everything, thats why we have 11 players”

Cool

Football a simple game made hard by idiots

Great comment, and so true.  Hadn't heard that one.
I watched Jock Stein just last night in a clip from '67 when he was team talking/addressing, and it has to be remembered this was before substitutes.
"Help each other, work for each other, and if someone is having a poor game help him"!  And that was just one comment.
He also used to occasionally drop a big player for varied reasons, one of which was to remind the others that no-one was guaranteed a place but also to tell the player himself that the young guy brought in was a challenger to him..
Just spot on and when you think of all the great teams we have seen over the years there were always two or three players in close proximity making themselves available to take the ball, always.  And equally, almost without fail, when we see teams who are really struggling, it is so obvious that  other players don't want the ball.  Sometimes the player in possession has no one within ten yards of him and it stands out a mile.
There is absolutely no substitute for teamwork.

Newcastle's training trip to Saudi Arabia, the nation of their owners, is a "football decision for the benefit of the players", says manager Eddie Howe.
