So long as you get a 3 year deal so you get the pay off when they sack you, it's not a bad option for older managers...

Watford have sacked manager Claudio Ranieri after 14 games and less than four months in charge.

The Italian, 70, was appointed on 4 October but managed only seven points from 13 Premier League games.

Last Friday's 3-0 home defeat to Norwich saw Watford drop into the bottom three and prompted the club's owners to take action.

It means Watford are looking for their 15th manager since the Pozzo family took over in 2012.

No way to run a football club ,how are the players supposed to react to a new managers ways aand methods ,when they are probably thinking ,"how long is this guy going to last ,whats the point in listening to him ?"NEXT PLEASE !!

I wasn't surprised he took it. Looking at his record I doubt he's ever turned a job down! He took the Fulham job in exactly the same circumstances  with the same outcome.

Report HallGreenSpy January 24, 2022 7:21 PM GMT
Rancid outfit. The sooner they go down the better. Apologies to all hornets but these owners take the biscuit.
Report tobermory January 24, 2022 7:26 PM GMT
It works pretty well for them though.

All these managers we are meant to feel sorry for ,they were not sorry enough for the previous guy to turn it down themselves.

Fair play to Watford and not discriminating against Roy Hodgson because he used to manage Palace.

Report SlippyBlue January 25, 2022 12:35 PM GMT
Oh blimey   I honestly thought that when Hodgson left Palace that would be him heading off to a peaceful retirement. What on Earth is he supposed to do at Watford exactly? No matter who got the job Hodgson isn't the answer surely.
That's an absolutely bonkers appointment ! Laugh
Report lurka January 25, 2022 12:53 PM GMT
Doesn't seem too bad an appointment to me. Right type of manager for their squad and where they are. It's not as if they are miles off safety. He is supposed to keep them up.

What a bonus for Roy though.  A nice little earner in a job which nobody expects him to succeed in and a wee pay off at the end of it to augment his pension.

Roy Hodgson is the sixth man to manage Watford
since they kept a Premier League clean sheet.

I agree with Slippy - you couldnt make this up. He must have been some price to get this gig.
