For those that actively bet or trade on football, do you:

a) Rely on your match reading skills
b) Go on the inplay stats
c) A combination of the two

What advice would you give to someone to improve on (a) or (b)

a) for me is the best guide, i use stats generally to back up an opinion after the match or half time usually, generally the stats lag what is actually happening

but by far the most important factor is risk management

Plenty of examples as to why not to rely on a, b, or c. Yesterday, for example, Shanghai v Dalian-0-0 at HT. Shanghai 2-0 up then Dalian equalised 89th min 2-2, then Shangai scored in last min to win 3-2!

Thanks for the replies.

@Rider - in terms of becoming a decent match reader, guess it's a case of just watching a lot of football?

In terms of risk, do think something like risking 1%-5% of your bank on one trade/bet?

Is it possible to make it pay using BF live video?

@Slicer

Thanks for reply - sounds like "one of those" games!

gerrygamer, yep lots of screen time, game selection is important and multiscreen set-up helps for clashes

1-5% sounds about right, depending on how you bet of course, i tend to trade parts of games so actual bet will be more than the % liability with a stop loss when this liability hits, never easy taking a loss particularly if you've been unlucky. I also have a daily stop so I dont lose more than about 10% of the bank as my decision making process gets affected beyond that

LV covers most of the top leagues outside the games shown on tv. The picture quality poor but the delay is fine for footie

The problems arise when "one of those games" become 2 or 3 "of those games" in quick succession.

Much might depend on which
game you are watching.

Do you know the teams

Are they playing how you expected them
to play.

Do they look motivated

What are the odds, has somebody
already spotted what you have
spotted,

Another "one of those games" just finished. Flamengo v Sao Paulo. HT 0-0, FT 5-1 after being 0-1! Good luck if you can read games to the extent you make a profit in the long term!
