Can't see why it wouldn't be an open game.

Italy are through. Wales are through barring a 750/1 acca in the other games.

Pointless having a separate thread for the Switzerland v Turkey game so, for the record, Baku is forecast to be partially cloudy with temperatures around 27 degrees. Rome will still be around 30 degrees (and falling) at kick-off with both venues showing normal humidity in or around the mid-40's.

Florenzi is out for for Italy with Chiellini a doubt, although I'll be shocked if he does play, regardless. Sommer is out for the Swiss with no other doubts known at this time.

Italy crazy odds, they'll make a lot of changes and Wales have been one of the more impressive teams at the tournament. Think Bale can get a couple

they played Turkey off the park, one of people's dark horses and could have score 10 goals with all the chances they have, now they're up against an Italy team due to make changes

Strange you say that Scandy. Turkey 17 attempts, 5 on target. Wales 16 attempts, 7 on target. Wales are vulnerable.

on target doesn't mean they were not good chances, like Bale's penalty was not on target but it was obviously a great chance, Ramsey hit over the bar from close range inside the box, off target many times can be a better change than those that were on target

Mark Langdon said last night on Talksport that in training Italy appeared to be getting ready for around 7 changes including the front 4, Spinazzola and Bonnucci with Verratti starting

no idea how true this is but that's what he was suggesting.

I've little doubt that Italy will make changes and I'm confident they won't risk Chiellini today, but they are now 10 games without conceding a single goal, which I doubt they will want to give up lightly.

One of the less well known Nostradamus predictions was that Italy would never concede a goal again after October 2020 Surprised

changes,changes,changes
england could make 5 changes and still according to some pundits/fans put out a stronger side
italy, spain, germany, england, none of them have any so called star players that are certain starters for every game
By:
scandanavian_haven
When: 20 Jun 21 11:06
yes but they have to concede eventually
By:

Indeed they do, unless Nostradamus is correct that is, but will it be Wales today? I'm not as confident as you on that one.

I think Italy will want to keep the momentum going, but at the same time they might want to rest players. They only need a draw to win the group and Wales, who still need a point to be certain of qualifying, are playing themselves in to the tournament, and have a bit of quality as well as team spirit. Group winners get Ukraine or Austria, runners-up probably get Russia. So, no real incentive for Italy to not win the group. No bet for me, a draw wouldn't surprise me, tbh. Especially if Italy rest a few.

Will Hill scratch of the day (assuming its the same for everyone) is place £5 bet on Goalscorer market (1st, anytime, etc..) and get a free £2 bet any time your selection has a shot on target. Will wait for line ups obvs and have a go for a bit of fun.

Doesn't the group runner up play the winners of b, as that stands, that would be Belgium not Russia, think there incentive would be to win it even if they rest players..

This is the first match between Italy and Wales at a major tournament. The Azzurri have won seven of the nine meetings, with Wales winning the other two.

The most recent encounter was a European Championship qualifier in Milan in 2003, which the hosts won 4-0. Robert Page started for Wales as Filippo Inzaghi scored an 11-minute hat-trick.

Italy are unbeaten in their past 29 games. If they avoid defeat, they will equal their all-time longest unbeaten run of 30 games between 1935 and 1939.

They have gone 965 minutes without conceding a goal.

If Wales avoid defeat, they will have made it out of the group stage in all three of their appearances at a major tournament, having also done so at the 1958 World Cup and Euro 2016.

Wales have lost just one of their past 15 competitive games, March's 3-1 defeat by Belgium in a World Cup qualifier.

Aaron Ramsey has been involved in six of the 13 goals Wales have scored at European Championships, scoring two and assisting four.

Italy - Team News.

Captain Giorgio Chiellini is out injured, so Lazio's Francesco Acerbi is expected to take his place in central defence. Chiellini's injury is not thought to be serious and he should be fit for Italy's last 16 tie next Saturday.

Paris St-Germain midfielder Marco Verratti is expected to return, while Chelsea's Emerson Palmieri could start if left-back Leonardo Spinazzola is rested.

Mancini could also recall forwards Andrea Belotti and Federico Chiesa in order to give the likes of Ciro Immobile a rest.

Wales make three changes from Wednesday's 2-0 win over Turkey.

The three players who drop to the bench are those who are one booking away from a suspension: Ben Davies, Chris Mepham and Kieffer Moore.

Chris Gunter and Ethan Ampadu come into what looks like a back three, with Neco Williams recalled at left wing-back.

It looks like it could be a 3-4-3 system with Aaron Ramsey as a false nine.

Wales: Ward; Ampadu, Rodon, Gunter; C. Roberts, Allen, Morrell, N. Williams; Bale, Ramsey, James.
