I had a handicap double with one a winner and the other, a push/void eg a +2 goals team lost 2-0.
Should it be settled as a winning single or do I lose my stake?

should be a winning single, i would have thought, so long as the terms of the +2 are what you thought, i.e. a void rather than a loss. with handicaps you have to be a bit careful

Thanks. I've spent over an hour with Betfair and they say they changed the bet from +2 to +1 when  the match began. I placed the bet 3 hours before!  I know odds can change but I think their action is scandalous.  It means you can't trust that they'll honour a handicap bet.

They even offered the time delay as an excuse

the reason they are giving sounds like it relates to an in-play bet. if you placed it 3hrs before k/o, i don't see how they can cite that as a reason for a change. you might need to go back to them and point out the time you placed it, or escalate the complaint.

there's no chance you got the k/o time wrong and it was in play when you placed it? that happened to me once with one of their promos on a multiple

Sometimes they get it wrong

If you are sure of your facts, get
on phone, and as above ask for it
to be escalated above the customer
services.

They can't change terms of a bet
after it's struck.

It may have been an error to
offer that price, but that would
Surely only lead to a void, as
likely they would pull had you
won.

Get on to them on twitter about it. They are the only competent ones. The guys on the phone don't even have a clue about betting. Ask them to quote the rule under which they claim they are entitled to change the terms of the bet.

What they quoted to you above is completely irrelevant and doesn't authorise them to do what they've done.

Thanks for the replies.  No it wasn't an in play bet. It was a small bet but I'm going to contact ibas and see what they say

Betfair will sort it if they've made
a mistake,... Sometimes takes a while.

Good luck.

Just had yet another chat and in the transcript, they say +2 is a loss if the team lose 2-0 but includes a link that shows it should actually be void!

Can you explain +2 handicap betting please?

It means one of the weaker team get an additional 2 goals head start
You at 23:23, Mar 24:
So if they lose by 2 goals, is the bet void?
Read
Catherine at 23:24, Mar 24:

No, it means if the end score is 2-0 the handicap gives them an extra 2 goals putting them on 2-2
You at 23:25, Mar 24:
So what would happen to my stake?
Read
Catherine at 23:25, Mar 24:

Well if the bet is a loser you lose it
You at 23:26, Mar 24:
In an Asian handicap +2 bet means the bet is void and the stake is refunded

is handicap draw offered in the markets you're playing in?
Report everyone's a winner March 25, 2021 9:21 AM GMT
are you definitely doing an asian handicap? if you are looking at 'handicap match result' on sportsbook, then you have, for example:

Handicap Draw -2 goals
Handicap Team A -2 goals
Handicap Team B +2 goals

In this case, the draw is a valid outcome once the handicap is applied. This is not an asian handicap, where you won't see the draw as a selection.
Report lurka March 25, 2021 10:33 AM GMT
I've looked at 'alternative handicap' markets on the sportsbook, they include a 'handicap draw' option. If this was the case for your bets then they are not Asian Handicaps as you stated, they are straight/European handicaps and there is no 'push' or void as is the case in Asian Handicaps. Your bets are losers if that was the case.

Sportsbook..Your bets are losers..
No push..
Report Ocean Finance March 25, 2021 12:10 PM GMT
Thanks for the replies. Twitter help was confusing as again, they gave a link to a calculator which confirmed the bets were void.
That said, you might be right and maybe I just missed the draw option.Surpised that they didn't mention that and still doesn't excuse them saying they changed the bet from +2 to +1

Double whammy if failure to explain
bet when you queried a loser led
to you losing a second time under
the rule they didn't explain!

Nobody is perfect, but really we
should expect that customer servicez
can answer our questions.

As ever the forum seems a better
bet, although sadly we didn't solve
your problem in timeSad

New customers must find the
exchange an absolute nightmare
... Then there's the sportsbook...
