Why is being made so difficult. Don't they give a damn about their customers any longer?

They want you to use twitter.
Not ideal for all, but to be fair, they are reasonably responsive if you choose to contact them through it.
Report longbridge August 24, 2020 12:50 PM BST
Or their webchat:

https://support.betfair.com/app/contact_us/

and click on the arrow by the topic you want to call about and a box appears to start webchat.

Personally - I know this is not a universal view - I prefer it to the phone - I'd much rather send a screenshot, cut and paste an example or whatever than try to describe a problem I am having to a CS person who has to try to imagine what I am seeing and describing.  But that's just me - I prefer texts/emails/whatsapp to telephone calls in social life too.

You can also contact them on the Facebook messenger service, but call me old fashioned when I prefer to talk over the phone.

Yeah, me to, but often nowadays, I suspect, the CS people aren't so clued up as they once might have been. The few times that I've contacted them, I rarely have problems, it has been resolved through the live-chat option. Don't know if that's still available.

I wouldn't know how to do facething or twits, hope I never need to.
Report Angoose August 24, 2020 2:44 PM BST
They are simply alternative methods of communication, not so different from this forum. Happy

I'm just an old wimp, afraid of the unknown Angoose.

I can probably muddle through Twitter / Facebook if I ever need to do so but give me a phone number anytime ... customer service of the past is now what it is ... a memory!
Report smirnoff2therescue August 24, 2020 7:55 PM BST
put me in the dinosaur camp as well geordie

This place is my facebook/twitter and i wud never entertain signing upto either just like most of my mates despite screams of anguish from the younger brigade - and despite all the adverts these days leading towards the young crowd for their market i dare bet that the % is much more in favour of the ova 50s HappyHappyShockedShocked

Generally speaking, I find the online chat facility of most sites better than the old phone systems. No pressing a number, countless times, to get through to what I've always believed is the same person anyway. The time to get a response is usually quicker than a phone (not always, but usually) and the ability to back-up a conversation with links etc is yet another plus. Obviously, the ability to type is a prerequisite for this kind of medium, but I would assume that most people can navigate a keyboard quite quickly these days and if not, you might want to consider a very useful program for learning - Mavis Beacon Teaches Typing. If my (then) 70-year old father can learn to type then anyone can!

I think it's because Betfair no longer need customers  ...it's the new techno age , they have this money catching device high above betfair towers  taller than the Shard  , it  transforms floating atoms or airborne particles into digital currency ...it's pretty clever stuff

Betfair has gone down the pan, no liquidity, no customer service, killed US racing on the exchanges.
Report sparrow August 31, 2020 9:34 PM BST
The problem is the people you deal with are just messengers who pass the problem on to whoever is responsible and you will never be able to deal directly with those people. On the horseracing forum we spent months with a particular problem earlier this year and was told over and over again that the matter was being dealt with until eventually someone well connected managed to contact a person high up the chain and the problem was resolved within a couple of hours.

Just use twitter, they are competent and they don't like people giving out on there because everyone else can see it and it looks bad.

If you pay premium charge then use vip@betfair.com
Report Nonaynever August 31, 2020 10:00 PM BST
I'm not on twitter or a premium charger! I like most of my generation would rather speak to someone on the phone, even if I can use the live chat and e mail, it's more personal and things get through quicker imo.
Report lurka September 1, 2020 1:26 AM BST
Well I'm not the first on here to tell you you're wasting a lot of time. Twitter is the way to go. And they clearly don't get through quicker any other way.
Report the whizz kids September 1, 2020 1:51 AM BST
Just tell them that you're a Sportsbook user, they will soon answer the phone.
Report Nonaynever September 1, 2020 4:08 PM BST
Amazing, the last post on here from Pushkin99 I think, criticizing Customer services has been removed. I wonder if it has anything to do with me copying and pasting it to my live chat interaction today?

Useless and slimey.

Betfair is a shadow of the company it used to be.

I found the opposite with betdock, real pain in the ass to get my balance out when they shut down the co.uk site and I'd been with them for years. Hopefully they won't be as useless when it comes to withdrawing for you
Report Coachbuster September 3, 2020 6:02 PM BST
talk about bad service, I tried to get through to the speaking clock one time but the woman on the other end wouldn't give me the time of day

I looked at the purple thing out of curiosity, fewer mkts and those they had were not so strong and that's a shame. Having said that, be careful what you wish for Nonay, bf were small once, and then they got bigger, and bigger, and........
