Couple more games for your theory to be realised and Liverpool to win their THIRD trophy of the season.
Report Diff-rent March 12, 2020 5:20 PM GMT
What other cups have they won and please don't tell me the world club cup.  Only 7 teams play in it. The other cup is a micky mouse cup over Chelsea kids.

City has a chance of winning a proper treble again this season.

That's from a west ham fan.

Man U know how to win trebles.

Laugh!

City won the treble last season but the quality of the two cup wins was poor considering the level of teams they played, strongest side they played was Chelsea and that was a 0-0 draw and won on pens.

Really there is no proper treble IMO, there is only a proper double because domestic cup wins cannot be compared to the top teams you come across in Europe. So League and CL.

The World Club Cup however is more valuable than a league cup, Liverpool played and beat the North and South American Champions. So ever there were a proper treble that would have to be a part of it. Number of games no relevant as the likes of City should be brushing aside lower league teams or lower half Prem sides anyway.

Klopp got what he wanted his players rested up for all the big games in tbe springExcitedLaugh after disrespecting the Fa cup. Poor manager had a chance at multipld trophies but lost all momentum trying to be to clever.
Report pushkin99 March 12, 2020 5:35 PM GMT
Liverpool have already won a treble twice, in 1984 and 2002.
Report bobweenit March 12, 2020 5:41 PM GMT
Salah been poor of late as well all he does it cut in on his left foot and hit a curler 10 ft over the bar i think city will overpower them next season after thry went out tamely. Atletico are well organised but non of there players are household names. I think klopp mussed a trick this season massively stalling momentum.
Report bobweenit March 12, 2020 5:42 PM GMT
If he was to rest players and play b or c teams he should have done it in the league they are so far clear.
Report Diff-rent March 12, 2020 5:45 PM GMT
The super cup has hmmm 2 teams in it?
The club championship has hmmm 7 teams in it...

If you call that a treble you are having a laugh.

Most fans will not call that a treble...

Liverpool are not the best team in the world FACT.
Report darren_discombobulates_sports March 12, 2020 5:52 PM GMT
It's not about numbers, it's about the quality of opposition.

Last season City beat Rotherham, Newport, Swansea, Brighton, Watford to win the FA Cup

Liverpool playing and beating the North and South American Champions in 2 games has more value in it, City's C team could beat some of those 2nd/3rd tier sides.

Little doubt that Liverpool have come off the boil in the last few months.
That aside, very difficult to seriously argue that they shouldn’t come in to consideration as the top club side in the world during the last 12 to 18 months.

Given that there is no methodology to provide a definitive answer as to who has been the best club side, it simply becomes a matter of opinion.
For what it is worth, my opinion is that Liverpool are that side.

PS - I predicted their demise to Atlético Madrid on the forum last night Sad

Most of the moaning on ths site is probably from disgruntled Utd fans.Liverpool have had a great season and have all but won the Premier league for the first time in 30 years.OK  Athletico knocked Liverpool out of the Champions league but that was due to their style of play.Their stagey is always the same  which is  Mass defence and hope for a lucky/breakaway goal.It worked in both legs but they will not win the Champions league because statistically some other team will score the lucky first goal and that will be it.Utd adopted thesametactics against  City on Sunday and it worked and it nearly worked against Liverpool at Old Trafford.Athletico have drawn 12 of their 27 matches in La Liga  and will probably not qualify for next seasons Champions league, which should be good news for Liverpool.
Relying on a lucky/breakaway  goal will only carry a team so far.As for City they have had an above average midfield/attack and  average to mediocre defence. so League e and FA cups are for them.In the Champions league they always come up short because of the defence.I expect the Champions league winners this season to be Bayern or PSG

2 UCL final appearances.  Runaway title winners.  "runaway" runners up in the title race and the story has not ended.  If that is not greatness I dont know what is.
Report buddeliea March 13, 2020 6:57 AM GMT
Well if you want to name a team that's best in the world, might as well give it to the team that are the Premier league best by a distance, and are also current holders of the Champions League and the World club cup.
At least then you can provide evidence, give it to anyone else and it would be much harder to justify.

Question for those saying Liverpool (run away title winners-elect, 99 points last season, 2 CL finals on the trot, Super Cup and World Cup winners) aren't the best team in the world right now.

Who is?
Report Angoose March 13, 2020 9:37 AM GMT
Chelsea are the best team in the world, while Real Madrid are the seventh best and Manchester United are 19th.

This is according to the International Federation of Football History and Statistics, an organisation recognised and supported by, although not affiliated with, FIFA. Shocked

The 2 best cups to win are champions lge and the EPL. Done it now, and winning league again, and champs lge in the next few years will back that up. Doing great so far

So if city win the champions league they've done what Liverpool have done last two seasons and won more cups...

At least it's an attempt at an argument.

Not sure how you say City are better than Liverpool while looking at the league table though.

Both manchester clubs, arsenal and chelsea..have won other cups when winning titles....

Liverpool trying to boast pride in just winning accumulating yearly figures of one cup here and a trophy there. eg. '6 times', '18 times' etc... Just proves one thing.... They're just a bunch of cherrypickers wannabees

Is it any surprise that this anti-anything-Liverpool bigot (whether it be the football clubs, people, town etc.) is so rarely seen about the forum these days?

I guess thebitterbighter feels safe to crawl out from under his rock at long last.................

As someone has already pointed out, most of the ill blood and bad feeling on the forum comes from disgruntled United fans, looking on jealously from the outside on Liverpool's success.
