Personally never thought of Pickford as England's number 1 goalkeeper but there again have never thought much about England as a football team.
hes not done much wrong for engerland.

no doubt will give other keepers a chance, henderson, drysdale etc. whether he drops pickford for euros is the problem he has got.

I watched Pickford when he played for my (currently league 2) side for a decent time (Bradford City).
He was decent enough, but wouldn't have ever predicted he'd become the England number 1 must admit, even knowing he would progress from then of course.

He's a classic 'shot stopper' keeper, who struggles with other aspects of keeping.

we lost 3 games out of 7 at that world cup .... says it all ... absolute carp pickford is woeful . short & thick as mince, and actually almost verifiably crazy. at least hart had a presence but he was mentally absent as well
pope is probably a better all round keeper, or henderson, but at this point you have to blood an entirely new keeper again and all that time invested in pickford goes to waste so you might be better off just sticking with him even though he's sh1te.

England have lost to the sort of sides they beat at the last WC - Sweden, Columbia etc, so I never joined in the knocking of us only beating 'weaker' sides. Those sides were good enough to get through certain stages of the comp.
Yes, we lost to Croatia, but they got past some very strong sides too.

TBF on the Pickford issue, in isolation he was decent at the WC.

If you wish to win the Euro Championships, you have to have a decent goalkeeper and Pickford is not, so lets hope he's not 1st choice.
now level with de gea ,leno and dubravka with mistakes made leading to goals in last 2 seasons.

Maybe Pickford has only had 66 shots at him where as Dubravka has had 4002

made 2 absolute howlers tonight, looks a very poor keeper, or maybe lacking confidence, 1st goal he tried playing it out in his box with a 2 players quickly closing him down, second goal he flapped at a overhead kick from close range. Don't know why Ancelotti didn't play Lossl?

it's not about confidence. why do people always say he's lacking confidence when in reality he's just a technically cr &p goalkeeper and a head case ?
His problem is over confidence ,he's a co cky little fecker....
he's not lacking confidence, he's got too much confidence. also dives when could stand still, eg second goal last, he's too much on his toes. like to see henderson given a chance but got to get into man u first team and if he cant replace de gea id be concerned.

One of pickford's big assets is the length he can punt the ball, maybe he should be allowed to use it rather than tika taka inside his 6 yard box.

Surprised Manure havent taken a few quid for DeGea tbh as he has been nowhere near the keeper he was prior to 2018 World Cup where his form/confidence seemed to slip dramatically but getting back to Pickford he is almost certain to retain n01 spot in Southgates line up as he has plenty credit in his international bank despite some of the alarming mistakes he consistently makes at club level

A goalkeeper is there to stop the ferking ball going into the net, for that you need arms, Pickford is garbage.
Pickford spills the ball into the danger area instead of pushing it wide. This will cost England in a big game eventually.
Re De Gea - he's on 350k a week. Not a matter of 'taking' money for him. You'd have to pay half his wages and let him leave for nothing to get rid. He'll be there til his contract ends. Plenty of players in the PL in that 'unsellable' bracket. Ozil and Mustafi are others, that's why you never hear of them being sold because they are unsellable due to high wages, despite being the first players you'd want rid of. Jones and Lingard are others at Man U. Nobody will pay them the same wage elsewhere, so why leave and take a pay cut when you can run down your contract and get even more as a free agent or else get offered a new contract before then?

What could possibly go wrong Gareth with Pickford and Stones playing tippy tappy inside our own penalty area, maybe Gareth thinks just that the Dutch got really lucky being handed 2 goals on a plate in a semi final and that it will never happen again !
there's a European Championship next summer and places are up for grabs, they need to be playing to be picked. Ozil doesn't care because he's retired but there's not many examples like him, think China and middle east could afford these wages but doubt they'd want mugs like Mustafi, Ozil maybe but think he's rather stay in London.
