I don't think they should suspend or reset the market for a red card either... that's gambling... better!

Agree the current situation is shambolic

There would be no liquidity in unmanaged markets, as no-one wants to risk serious money during VAR decisions.
Unmanaged markets just = a hooverers dream. |

I enjoy the added drama of not knowing if my bets will be voided or not and the suspense of not knowing my position at any given point in time.
I expect the remaining guy at BF towers (the one doesn't work on the slots/bingo/casino/exchange games/e-sports/sports-book and still remembers how a betting exchange works) will be back from holiday soon, so they will work out a sensible policy in the next 3-4 years. So long as he's not transferred to sort out any teething problems with the new virtual racing game with Leprechauns riding Unicorns. |

the clock on football markets makes hoovering implausible and to claim that nobody would play is a measure of your own imagination.
unhelpful and innacurate I think. |

The serious players wouldn't and they're the ones that market make, no-one is going to want to leave up huge sums of money in an unmanaged market with no safety net for their money.
Surely the point is if the market is unmanaged there is no clock, thus hoovering becomes the game if the market simply never suspends. |

VAR in itself complexes this further, because then it's just a pure judgement call, again not easy to do on the fly and equate to how it affects the odds meaning no-one is going to want to market make during a VAR decision.

horse races are not suspended as a horse falls, nor grand prix if a car spins off.
cricket is not suspended when a wicket falls nor if it starts raining. there were some trials on unmanaged markets on championship football a few years back, no great problem, iirc cricket world cup has a market where all bets are voided on a tie, with 60 odd million matched , ...and market with a tie, with less than a grand matched, but betfair still provide the two markets.. so it must be possible to provide alternative market on football for those that want to trade without suspensions, who knows, if the suspend monkey falls asleep after a suspend, folk may enjoy the non suspended markets even more. |

Most other sports don't work the way football does though, the odds movements are fluid rather than stable and then 1 big swing at a big action. On top of that hoovering goings on a lot in other sports anyway.

Most other sports are also progressive towards some kind of scoring action, whereas football a goal can come out of nowhere in seconds.
