Chelsea letting De Bruyne go?
Chelsea letting Salah go ?
United letting Pogba go and buying him back for 90 mil?

I know none where the players they are now, but still mistakes not to either see their talent of fight harder to keep them and to give them more game time, Chelsea making the same mistake with Hudson-Odoi again.

I'd say Jaap Stam was another I can think of, not sure which is worse, atm probably Salah who must be worth 150m.

Or Trevor "I'll give you a trial, Eric" Francis.

Bradford City signed Bruno Rodriguez on loan for £1m initial payment. Rumour has it, they were supposed to be looking at Jay-Jay Okocha instead but got the wrong player scouted. Think he played three games and was sent back.

Think he cost 5 or 6 million and not sure he ever got a game?

Whilst signing Rodwell was obviously a poor decision he was purchased as a squad player for £15m and sold for £12m, or thereabouts, so wouldn't qualify as the worst ever (imho). Torres from Liverpool to Chelsea and Andy Carroll to Liverpool spring to mind for me.

Thick end of 12 million iirc , when 12 million actually bought something

Afraid thats not true, in my lifetime of going to the Villa since the early 60s, think the closest you'd get to anything like that was the signing of Argentinian Oscar Arce in 1967 and his brother Hector came along too.
Unfortunately neither made the 1st team but watched them a few times in the old central league, both were talented ball players but unsuited to the English physical style of play.
Was a great pity Oscar Arce who was a central midfield player never got into the 1st team as we would have had a defense and midfield named
Wright Aitken Brown Arce Hole!Laugh Certainly didn't cost 28 million, actually walked into the villa asked for a trial did some ball juggling skills and keepy uppy around the pitch, had actually not played in Argentina for 2 years and had been running a shop in Dundee!
We also signed Bruce Rioch and his brother Neal, Bruce cost £100,000 and Neal about £5000, then there was Brian(who would be worth at least 28m now) and Alan Little both signed as schoolboys and more recently Luke and Stefan Moore who came through the ranks.
Most recent brothers have been Craig and Gary Gardner.

Torres had a poor goal return for Chelsea in comparison to Liverpool but he did with the Champions League, Europa League and FA Cup so don't think he'd qualify one of the biggest transfer mistakes, Carroll probably more so but that wasn't even his fault, he was signed before Rogers came in via Moneyball, then Rogers came in and played his football a certain way and he didn't fit, but yeah from a club perspective it was a big mistake.Veron, Crespo and Schevchenko big in italy but for some reason never really fitted in in England. Francis Jeffers didn't work out well.

I'd hazard a guess the protagonists being Eric Cantona, Lee Chapman and Leslie Ash. Apart from the obvious fact Chapman was at Leeds longer than Cantona.

Won't seem like the worst but Ozil's new deal has to be up there. £17.5m a year in wasted wages with no transfer value because you'd have to let him go on a free and there still mightn't be a club who will pay him anything similar (£350k a week).

Worst of all it has completely hamstrung Emery in the transfer market as you are not allowed to increase your wage bill by more than £7m a year under PL FFP rules and his new deal takes up the full £7m extra. A nice parting gift from Wenger.
